Wisper 905 - servicing and freewheel remover?

you won't have to do this just for for a puncture. you only need to take the plug apart and use the special tool when replacing the freewheel / block (the big set of 7 gears on the back wheel). to just take the wheel out is the same as any other push bike apart from there is a big cable with a...

Decent e-bikes in £800-£999 price range?

what models are now available in this price range but with a reasonable dealership, customer service and stock levels? I know Alien have a good reputation (although haven't their prices risen recently after the stock shortages)? There also appear to be the models the Chinese guy up North...

    Wisper 906 Alpino first impressions

will there be any way of retrofitting one of these lamps to a 905SE - or an equivalent (I do understand if the controller does not have the correct output, as when I last worked on my bike (I successfully replaced the block using the advice given here) I was more anxious to get everything back...

    Devil's advocate

in the short term more for securing safe transit routes for petrochemicals bypassing the former SU, as well as an attempt at a "show of strength" to the wider Islamic world (albeit with questionable efficacy) - in the medium to long term there are potentially very large deposits of minerals...

    Devil's advocate

the whole bike (Wisper 905SE) is cheaper than fuel costs or bus fares to get from my home to my work - the rural buses here are a bit like that old telly series when I was a kid - the one with the two lecherous drunk bus drivers and Blakey, but with more RTC's (passengers and other road users...

    Devil's advocate

before I got an ebike I rode an unpowered bike regularly for about 10 years, and for the last 20 years have been working in an engineering role in high tech industries (including business-critical systems for media/broadcast) and more recently IT Management. So as well as bikes I get to see a...

Is it Smarta to Wisper or Twist? I need Oxygen

if you are emailing Norman using the address on here remember to remove the space which has been inserted to foil spammers.. The problems with the Wisper sound very much like there are one or more loose connections between the handlebar controls and the front connection box (if your model has...

    Wisper 906 Alpino first impressions

will it fit all 900 series? what are the dimensions of it? I have a extra rear lamp on the seatpost of my 905 and would like to keep this if possible..

    Help - Police impound bike

even then the cops have to justify whether their action is proportionate. is this a younger person riding aggressively / on pavements / where cycling is prohibited and telling pedestrians to get out of their way? that will eventually result in bother from cops even on a push bike as its...

    Help - Police impound bike

Hampshire are notorious for enforcing traffic laws against cyclists quite harshly, OTOH along with Surrey and TVP they have a lot of cycling officers. years ago when I lived in TVP there was one who was really into bikes, for a cop he was actually OK (this coming from a someone who was a young...

    Help - Police impound bike

indeed, this is a very diverse and multicultural forum and not everyone is even in England! I think most "EU" e-bikes don't attract too much attention on the flat but doing 20+mph up a steep hill on a very high power bike might well attract the attention of the authorities..

2 Year, 8000 mile Review of Kalkhoff Pro-Connect

If they are anything like other e-bikes you have to buy two chains for the first replacement and add the extra links from the second chain. The battery lengthens the wheelbase making many chains too short out of the box. Of course with subsequent replacements you need only buy 1 x "new" chain...

    Cyclamatic Folder had noisy hub.

good stuff, but out of curiosity, are both mechanics called Jim? I remember hearing vaguely of a Jim at Alien as well as a Bob, who designs the bikes (or is it the other way round?) thats some coincidence if so! :D

    motor cable advice

it is a tight fit but not as bad as it seems (that said I used to work on large complex electronic systems for TV stations so have encountered much worse). just make sure that every cable is correctly replaced in the right order.

    motor cable advice

remove the plastic cover below the battery (NB: quite a fiddly job from memory). This gives access to the controller, and the motor cable is connected there using removeable connectors. Then you can remove the entire wheel.

    Triggering traffic lights

As taxpayers, why not just contact the Councils? Although the call centres are sometimes overloaded and slow to answer, if your local cycling campaign doesn't do this (not every area has one) there are websites like fixmystreet where these things can be reported. That way the lights gets fixed...

From the latest edition of A to B magazine

There are more liberated 30-40+ something females on this forum regularly posting than on unpowered bike forums and even some eco-friendly/hippy forums, and some of them have technical skills which put many of the men to shame! :D There is another obvious reason why there aren't as many...
