    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

You reckless outlaw, I recommend transportation for you :D Wish my rides were that flat, I'd double my range.

    Battery 'seasoning'?

Yep, use it, charge it. Don't leave it out in the shed in the cold.

    Motor resistance?

This seems to be a common comment from those newly converted. I posted something similar myself a couple of years ago. Sometimes motors can be a bit tight when new, but this soon runs in. My hub is perfectly free running after 4000 miles. That marvellous kick from the motor is sorely missed...

Halfords Carrera Crossfire e Battery cutting off...

'Unfit for purpose' are the code words you need. Keep repeating it, politely, getting louder the longer you are in the store. That should sort it.

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Well he was certainly takin no prisoners. Good job you weren't on blues and twos. Perhaps he was a modern midwife on the way to a house call:p

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Recently I was cycling a local narrow lane. Land sloped steeply from left to right, forested. Up ahead, on an incline, I saw a solitary female jogger, a rarity hereabouts, running on the right hand side of the lane, with a very steep unfenced slope down on her right. At some 25 yards I eased...

    Looking to convert

250w is merely the motors continuous rating. The actual power consumption is down to the maximum current the controller will deliver. The link you give doesn't specify the controller current. But a 15A controller will give you a max power consumption of 540watts, so long as the battery can...

    Looking to convert

An 11Ah battery has 396 Watt/hours, at 36v. You can reckon on 10-20 watt/hours per mile. Giving you a range of approx. 20 - 40 miles. Bit vague I know, but there's so many variants. Hills (not many for you) wind (ooer yes) weight, amount of rider effort, temperature etc. I have a rack...

    Battery air pump

Oh bugger! My orbital sander just broke and need a new one for work, gotta go there first. Shame 'cos it would have fitted nicely in my handlebar box.

Happened upon this whilst looking at something totally unrelated. Isn't the interweb thingy wonderful sometimes...

Grind crank arm or new BB

Those bars are a voltage indicator not a remaining capacity indicator. Prolonged heavy current draw (i.e. a long climb on full power) will cause the voltage to go down. As you cruise down the other side of the hill, the voltage will recover. So arriving home with 2 bars down it's not unusual...

    Hello!

Greetings from Ceredigion. They probably stopped fitting throttles as standard when the law changed. However it is still legal to retro-fit them. If you need a hand, give me a shout, I may be close enough to help.

Grind crank arm or new BB

I know this has taken longer than you thought Waj, mine did too. But the upside is that you now have a bike that you know backwards. You've found your way around obsticles and so if anything does go wrong you'll be able to make an educated guess at what it might be. Then likely be able to fix...

    Random Pricing

A few weeks ago I bought some bar ends from Halfords. Price on the shelf was £5.99, so I was chuffed when the guy on the till charged me £3. I was even more chuffed when I got outside and realised that the end stop inserts were actually a tool kit. I was in Halfords today to buy a light...

    electric bicycle weight

I have a stand like LP linked to. Wheel removal can still be tricky, though easier. Can't use it with the wife's step through though, just can't find the balance point.

    New Bikes

As previously said, the exact bike type is a very personal thing and you would be best to try as many as you can before parting with your hard earned retirement stash. Where motors are concerned there are basically two configurations - hub motors and bottom bracket motors. Bottom bracket motors...
