London Cycling, a bad start to the year

It's always desperately sad to hear of the death of someone doing something that they love. We are all aware of the dangers of cycling on roads and the need to have a highly aware/defensive style of riding. However I am always taken aback by peoples reaction when they find I'm a cyclist. You...

    This is the future....

Someones nicked the front wheels. Wouldn't fancy that in a front end shunt with a bus. Is that a lift up front door? Could be fun if someone parks a bit close. Mind you, I bet soundwave could do something interesting with it.

Replacement Battery for Alien Oceon kit

Speak to Jimmy at Insat, otherwise known as bga reworking. He can probably re-cell your original case with quality cells and get more capacity. Haven't got a link, someones bound to be along soon to give you one, if you'll pardon the expressiono_O

    Where do I start?

I have heard BPM referred to as, 'Big Powerful Motor' Ezee hub motors are such, as in my avatar. http://cyclezee.com/ezee-e-bikes--pedelecs.html Another example are Bafang 8Fun motors as fitted to the Big Bear D8veh refers to. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?bigbear-ls This is the bike that carries...

Building an ebike for commute in Cornwall

I have an Ezee front hub and can confirm it takes a disc and it climbs hills like you've got Bradley Wiggins as a stoker. However the control is not subtle, there is a strong surge as the pas kicks in. I like it but it spooks people who aren't used to it. One solution would be to start off...

Hi All from an Early Adopter - paying the price

Then there's the less tangible things like health and well being, who can measure the value of the e bike grin? For me a £255 pound bike with a kit that came from my much older steel frame bike. The Ezee kit certainly isn't the cheapest but it's already in its second incarnation. 157 charging...

    Pedal Assist bracket other side

Hi Skywayd, It would be a good idea to turn your motor round so that the cable enters from the underside. That way it forms a drip loop and helps prevent water getting into the motor. It'll use up that slack at the crossbar.

Hi All from an Early Adopter - paying the price

Sorry to hear you've been having an expensive time of it. I avoided these costly branded machines and went the conversion route. As Nealh says, all parts are available individually and you are not tied to one manufacturer. I don't commute but have had 3500 miles out of my conversion with only...

Advice please for a "commuter bike"

She will need to get to feel the difference between torque sensing and cadence sensing. The first measures the force being put on the pedal and gives a percentage boost from the motor (e.g. 50%, 100% 125%). The second senses the pedals rotating and simply turns the motor on. The first only gives...

    Cyclotricity Kit

58V? Really? Showing where? A fully charged 36v battery would be around 42v. Even a 48v battery would not be that high. Even when charging neither would be that high. Have another look, and try your voltmeter on a known source to check its accuracy

    Awful brakes on my ebike

How about something like this: http://www.tweekscycles.com/Product.do?method=view&n=3418&g=557349&p=557359&d=124&c=4&l=2&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Base&utm_campaign=Rim%20Brake%20Pads&gclid=CMv1n72y5dECFcKVGwodUOEPkA What type of brakes do you have? I put this on the front of my last...

New user - Just set up my 1500w conversion

'Sright. Some have a removable bung, others you cut into with a stanley knife. When the mirror is fitted it hides and tidies up any rough edges. Well worth it as you loose the 'looking over the shoulder wobble'.

New user - Just set up my 1500w conversion

I rate these: http://cyclezee.com/cyclezee-torque-arms.html in fact the bike with the red forks is my first conversion(how did that happen?o_O) As for mirrors, these are great: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mirrycle-Generic-Mountain-Bike-Mirror/dp/B00JQN3J50 Folds flat on friction pivots, gives a...

Motor noise on a new hub motor

I had a similar thing on my Ezee. It would get worse after a long climb and disappear if I turned the power off. I stripped the motor apart, intending to regrease the gears, and found that the bearing mounted in the motor casing was badly gritty. It's been fine since replacement.

Help us build a better Ebike battery

As a leisure/utility cyclist 300Wh would be too small. I currently use 540Wh and would look for slightly more, say 600Wh. I have 2hour charging at 4A and that's fine. I can see the need for quick charge in the hire sector however. Take your point about charging whilst having a coffee, but that...

    New to ebikes

Keep a hub at or above about 8mph going uphill and you'll have no problem. This keeps the efficiency higher, so less power going to heat. The bpm's have so much metal in them they barely get warm. I regularly do a 2.5 mile climb with the ezee, never faulters.

Hi - considering a runabout for hilly town

The Woosh kit mentioned is this one: http://wooshbikes.co.uk/cart/#/product/uid-122-frontbpm-15ah/front-bpm-kit-with-15ah-battery BPM motor noted for it's pulling power. They also do a rear CST kit. My bike (as in avatar) has an ezee front hub, as pokey as the woosh. It's in suntour ally forks...

    Single Chain Ring

I have a converted Carrera Crossfire. This came with 3 rings, I removed the smallest to fit the pas ring, leaving me 48-36. No chainline problems and big ring is good for 32-35mph, small ring good for west wales hills. The Vengence must have a different chainset as I seem to remember mine just...
