    convert an old tourer

Is the old tourer you or the bike?;) Seriously though, that's a nice bike. Huge triangle for battery mounting but the bars will be a problem. Kits come with brake handles that have cutoff switches fitted in them, they will not suit drops. Not sure if it would be possible to fit sensor switches...

Think it's probably the first of your options Danidl, as the other output plug still gives 8.4v, which implies two cells in series.

Well there you go, I never thought of getting my stanley knife out and slitting the cells apart. So back to D8veh's original suggestion, especially if it has a BMS built in. Slight concern is that it quotes the USB voltage as 4.2, I thought USB's were 5v, will it run the satnav? The TomTom...

    On the go navigation

Thanks D8veh, but I was hoping to make use of what I've already got, which is one of these: http://www.banggood.com/3x-CREE-XML-T6-LED-Headlight-Front-Bike-Bicycle-HeadLamp-Head-Light-p-1001961.html?rmmds=buy It has the strap on battery case that contains a heatshrunk 4 cell battery, so I can't...

    On the go navigation

It's too easy to get lost in the lanes around here and start to suffer range anxiety. So I want a simple map display that will tell me where I am and route find the shortest way home . I've been down the cheap gps smart 'phone route, it blew up on me after about 3 days. I've got a TomTom in...

DIY Lithium 18650 Battery 5 part video

Nice shout Soundwave, I'll probably never build one but it's good to know. The part about chargers was particularly useful.

Self sealing inner tube saves the day :)

Gotcha. My riding's on tarmac although that's an approximate description on a lot of the smaller lanes around here .

Self sealing inner tube saves the day :)

Crikey, really? I run my Marathon +'s at 55, feels squidgy otherwise. On the slime tube front, seems that 700c tubes with schrader valves are a bit of a rareity.

Self sealing inner tube saves the day :)

Thanks, think I'll investigate this some more 'cos we're coming up to hedge flaying season and there'll be crap all over the lanes. They are, of course, supposed to clear it all up. Yeh right:p

So are these tubes you've put slime into, or tubes bought with slime in them?

How tough are rear hubs off road ?

Have you seen these guys? They are just outside Abereron, there's a young chap there who has built his own awesome mtb. Ask enough questions and he may just reveal it to you. They have a few demo machines but no Nant trails nearby. http://www.cyclemart.co.uk/

The axle in the photo would be trying to spin counterclockwise, so pulling down on the torque arm.

    HANDLEBAR EXTENDER

I put one of those stem risers on the Crossfire. It resulted in a comedy moment. I'd never worked on this type of handlebar stem before. I had the bike clamped in a workstand, undid the top bolt - and the forks fell out ! So there I am, in the kitchen, holding forks and handlebars trying not...

    Carerra conversion

That's the side with the cables isn't it? Unless the motor plugs will go through the opening in the torque bracket, I don't think that's going to work for you. The torque brackets that Woosh use on their Big Bear are much thinner (approx 2mm steel) they are the type that have a clip around the...
