    Hi from Elgin Scotland

Did say I am 63 AND a leisure cyclist. 'Fraid my yahoo days barraling up things like Snowdon are well over:(. Anyway Snowdons north Wales, 2&half hours drive from sunny Ceredigion. Still the Ezee is a geared hub with loadsa torque, does me fine. The wife's Big Bear has the BPM motor and also...

    Hi from Elgin Scotland

Forget those 'high power' motors, you won't need 'em. I live in West Wales, also noted for it's hills. I am a 63 year leisure cyclist, certainly no athlete. I have a Carrera Crossfire that I converted myself with an Ezee kit. Despite being rated at 'only' 250watts it gets me up all the hills...

Evora 6.6 lithium Ion 36v battery

36v x 6.6Ah = 237.6 Watt Hours. It has been said that you can look to consume between 10 and 20 watt hours per mile.

    Bafang SWXK caliper solution?

How about Magura HS11 hydraulic vee brake? Fitted one to my latest conversion and it's smooth and powerful. https://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/magura-hs-11-rim-brake/aid:692633

    Bike computer

OK, got tempted, looked up a range of Apps and how they worked (new angle for me). Just ordered the cheapo smart 'phone linked by D8veh. Should fit nicely into the top of my carradice handlebar box. Save carrying O.S. maps everywhere.

250 watt is it a myth?

It's an Ezee kit, http://cyclezee.com/conversion-kits.html Mine is front hub in a 700c wheel, still makes me laugh going up some silly hill whilst sitting down. I do note a hefty price increase since I bought mine 2 years ago, blame sterling.

    Punctures !!!!

I've had a thorn go through the tread of a Marathon plus BUT, it was so long it punctured both sides of tube. I only discoverd that as I got the bike out to ride, so I had got home with the thorn in place .

250 watt is it a myth?

For me a large part of cycling is simplicity of maintenance/repair. This is why I opted for a kit with a geared hub motor and deraileur gears. A while ago, when my motor started to make a noise, it was just a matter of dropping out the front hub, and stripping the casing to find a shot bearing...

    which kit

Yes it was a standard Halfords Crossfire bought for £255. The Ezee kit was one from a previous bike. Front hub with 14Ah rack battery. Kit price was around £800. As I say, not the cheapest but robust. You can see my thread on the conversion here...

    which kit

Hi Poptop, No trade connection here, just an e-biker from west Wales. I have a Carrera crossfire with an Ezee conversion kit on it. My wife has a Woosh Big Bear LS. Both take welsh hills in their stride with plenty of range, so long as you are prepared to put the effort in. Neither machine is...

Raleigh Velo Cite replacement battery or re-cell

E-mail Jimmy at this adress: info@bgareworking.co.uk Also known as Insat international, he can re-cell your battery and possibly get more amp hours in there. I would think it best to go with a charger that's supplied with the new battery, although Jimmy may say different. He is well regarded...

    Woosh Bikes

My wife has a Big Bear LS. The only thing I have had to replace (in two years) are the brake cables. Tyres are fine, gears work well and the rear rim and front mech discs work well. Whiilst my wife is not what you would call an adventurous cyclist,(60's latter leisure cyclist) we do live in...

    Which route to take?

Hi Steve, welcome. If you're handy with the spanners, a conversion leads to a better understood machine and can work out cheaper than an off the shelf bike. I like the simplicity of hub drive, mine's been reliable over 3500 miles. Others will tell you crank drive is better. See if you can...

    eBike Day 2

SHORTS at this time of year and over the FRB:eek: blimey Gus you must be built of Irnbru!:D Get some hi viz and some flashing lights. Doesn't stop the idiots but at least you've done your bit. As a driver, I find a lot of cyclists have dark bikes and dress in dark clothing and don't jump into...

    Guest Bike Conversion

OK, so that bridges out a proportion of the windings of the shunt, so reducing the resistance, so must increase the max current - is that right? How would this affect the rest of the circuitry in the controller. On a slightly different issue, there is a direct connection from the battery to the...

    Guest Bike Conversion

Got out on the fox today, it was very windy and I targetted a coupke of the steeper local climbs. The Panda worked well but I think I've been spoiled as my first kit was an Ezee and, power wise, this just doesn't compare. On the flat I used setting 2/3 to get up to speed. Once there the bike...

    Newbie

Hi and welcome. I think you're right, front hub is probably the easiest. I went that route with my first conversion. I plumped for an Ezee from Cyclezee. Not the cheapest kit but it had all I needed, worked first time and has continued to work for 3500 miles. This is one of the larger...

    Guest Bike Conversion

Managed to get out on a 14ml run today, but took the Carrera with the Insat battery on, because of fog and no lights yet on the fox. Intended to 'work' the battery, so ran in a higher setting than normal. Battery voltage checked at 37.7 after settling. That's what I wanted as it may be a...
