    Riding in the Rain

There's no problem with water & electrics if things are made properly to withstand damp and water not penetrating where it isn't wanted. Loads of electrics on motorboats and yachts, pond pumps another example and SatTV installations are out in all weathers. Not to mention motorbikes and cars...

    Electronic Suspension!

Yup, since Ultegra Di2 came out a while ago, bikes with the regular Ultegra have dropped about £700 in price. Funny to think how fast some things lose their commercial value when "superseded" by the latest mod con. Interesting thing is though, I read an article on one of the Colnago bikes...

    E-motion Neo Xtrem

Drool at those photos. What a gorgeous place. Wish I lived somewhere hot & sunny with warm water. Could do away with all the "stuff" you have to carry about and put on here, just go to the beach, lock up the bike, chuck t-shirt in seatpost bag and go enjoy the waves. Life would be so much...

    CST - it's all working

They're bulky beasts, Scimitar - I guess you don't notice so much on a m'bike. Are you going to try out that dimmer array ? It does say on the specs that output depends on voltage and therefore it may be that there's no current limiter in the lights. If there isn't you ought to be able to get...

    Riding in the Rain

Just re-read that ... I meant to say when the battery and controller get built into the frame triangle ... :o ... carried away with euphoria so much I couldn't even string a coherent sentence together !

    Rear wheel puncture

Washers go between the axle nut and the dropout, and have a 'lip' which slots in to the dropout opening from outside in. They have a slightly 'toothed' surface which grips the frame. Looking at the photos on that thread it doesn't seem that the manufacturer chose to use them and so I am not at...

    Riding in the Rain

Remembered today how fun riding in the rain can be. Soaked this morning getting nuts and bolts, but had a real blast getting muddy this afternoon. Mist and steady drizzle notwithstanding, couldn't resist giving Trek the real test. Took it out to the steepest hill for miles. It's a killer and...

    CST - it's all working

Finally worked out how to easily mount my lights and made a decision on what's going on the bike. One big light - 27W for night trails and high-beam : Really good quality this light – just had to adapt the fixings. Was very pleased. It's fixed to a modified Rixen-Kaul handlebar bag mount...

    Charity Ride, electric bikes invited?

I thought about doing the London-Brighton off-roader on my Trek before converting it... even with my 20Ah battery (let alone any other considerations) I reckon I'd be pedalling a hefty beast the final 30 miles unless there was someone with a spare ready to do me a dirty swap in a pub half way...

If this goes ahead it will be a MAJOR Boost for E Bikes and could stop the Bank Heist

Good old Boris. Can always be relied on to blunder in to a hornet's nest (!) Wonder how long it'll be before the PCs are out the back soldering their shunts :p.

The Great E- Bike Bank Heist

Lol. You'd be deprived your eBike privileges though... would have to set up a production line manufacturing division, profits to the governor, in exchange for the odd test ride round the exercise yard on a rota basis. Play nicely now ... and don't go dropping any spanners ;)

    Electronic Suspension!

It looks like a very clever addition to a top-end bike. Automatic rear suspension lockout on climbs will make a huge difference to people riding full-sus bikes. I like the waterproofing tests too and RockShox gear is very good quality so it has a lot of plusses. I'd imagine the main demand will...

    Electronic Suspension!

Great concept and fine whilst it works but thing is, rather like Di2 shifting it's just another electronic device to go wrong and involve you in expensive specialist repairs. The more sophisticated cars become with plug-in diagnostics and the like, and keys which don't work if you...

KTM Macina dual hs - the eagle has landed!!

Just ordered one of those.Too thick to get bolt croppers round. Just the job. The big chain and padlock is great if you're leaving the bike for any length of time but when you lift one (or a large D-lock) you realize just how heavy they really are. If you're nipping up the road to the shops and...

KTM Macina dual hs - the eagle has landed!!

Y0ou use it with a chain. It works like this : You can see no-one can get croppers in around the padlock shackle. You need to push one chain link through another to make a loop and fix the padlock to the single chain loop as in the photo - otherwise you can't get 2 chain loops through it...

KTM Macina dual hs - the eagle has landed!!

This is the lock Kalkhoff fix as a frame lock : Axa Defender RL Frame Lock It's only intended to put on when you're momentarily distracted, not when you're leaving the bike somewhere. I know you didn;t direct your question at me but will 2nd squire locks anyway, but more particularly this...

KTM Macina dual hs - the eagle has landed!!

Have fun with it, wissy. Nice looking bike - looks perfect for you and all the preferences you laid out. Nothing quite like taking a new toy out of its box ! No doubt many happy miles ahead . Really good locks essential & keep that chain cleaned and oiled once a week. You'll keep the...

    Rear wheel puncture

Good stuff and good luck. Yes, you have horizontal dropouts just like my Agattu. Exactly the same issues by the sounds of it with the wheel alignment (and in my case slip too) that plagued me for weeks trying to work out what it was and what to do about it. You just need new washers between axle...

    Rear wheel puncture

If you have Presta valves and don't have a valve cap on, then if the tip loosens a bit (or the brass nut which seats them to the rim comes loose) then you can easily lose air or damage them. Schrader ones ought to be fine, unless you've hauled on them with a very heavy chain and they've somehow...
