    CST - it's all working

Well, front brakes were sounding well dodgy during the test rides and d8veh said they felt like pads needed replacing. I had the rear ones out when fitting the brake cutoff and they looked fine : Guy who sold me the bike said the brake pads had been replaced by his LBS not an excessive...

    Rear wheel puncture

It's worth having it apart and doing it yourself. Then you'll know and can see what the problems are. I've just done a tyre overhaul - taken both Winter tyres off my Agattu and fitted Marathon Plus back again for Spring with proper Protek Max inner tubes which self-heal if you get a puncture...

    Speed or S Pedelec insurance

That's just it, though - they won't. But they're a niche market with a certain buyer attracted to them (especially at the astronomic prices usually asked - £3k upwards if I remember from the last time I looked). Enough to make it worthwhile someone selling them. As with all these things - how...

    CST - it's all working

Probably down to the material used (as usual). It's a weight thing too I guess. Problem with centre stands is that they don't work well with many MTB frames or wider tyres. Not enough clearance between the tyres and the stays.

    Speed or S Pedelec insurance

The cost of testing is negligible in the context of the thousands of pounds charged for a high-end Grace bike. If a few mods are mandatory like indicators, horn etc. then having looked into the costs you're only talking about £100 or so of dealer-fitted customization which can be optional for...

    CST - it's all working

It'll be a while yet before I get it all built into the triangle, wire up all the circuits, get brackets made / modified for lights etc.... that'll be at least a couple of weeks. It's a fiddly job making a custom box like that and will probably take me 2-3 attempts I'd say to get it right and...

    CST - it's all working

Thanks a lot for those links. I'll get the mudguards in and give the kickstand a try. Couldn't track down a silver one so I'll give the black a try instead. At least it'll fit - must be one of the only ones which will on those frames. Proper test ride today - 7 miles flattish with some hills...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Really sorry you're still having problems, Morphix :( - must be a right pain by now !! Hope the battery charging sorts things out for you. I think it must be a real challenge getting hill torque and range on a lightweight folder.

    Speed or S Pedelec insurance

They presumably take the commercial risk if you ride off on one up the road. Note 50Cycles didn't bring their Pro Connects to the NEC Show, as I understand it specifically on account of the associated public liability issues and the bikes not being pre-registered as LPMs at the point of sale...

Broke my motor lead - new motor (and wheel build) or is it replaceable ?

Great day - have posted up on here instead - as it seemed a more appropriate thread to pick back up again : http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/13813-cst-its-all-working-5.html

    CST - it's all working

A few pics of where we are : - My big 600denier nylon Topeak bag off the Agattu is compatible with the rack I got for this bike (it has the same MTX slider) so tipped it out and put the battery, controller and cabling into this. As you can see from the photo above it's really a bag for a...

    CST - it's all working

What a day ..... d8veh must be absolutely wrecked :o. We worked from about 11am to 7.30pm straight with about a half hour off for tea and lunch today, but such a great result. After the distasters and set-backs of brake switches and broken motor leads, it's all now working again. The repair...

Broke my motor lead - new motor (and wheel build) or is it replaceable ?

Right - looking forward to meeting d8veh later this morning . Be really great to get an experienced eye take a look at all the bike, all the stuff I've got in to finish this build and what I've done so far. Going to do some more tests on the motor Halls etc. with d8veh and make sure no...

New Light runs direct from battery.

I just found something in the drawer which would likely work in the same way as a beam diffuser lens for this light : Eurolites Headlamp Beam Adaptors/ Beam Benders: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics Just trim to size, slot in front of the LED retaining plate, screw the front of the light back on...

    Hydraulic brake switches

Heck, that stuff looks absolutely great - can think of so many applications for it hardly know where to start. I bet it would grip and bond my repaired motor wire bundle to the stator with a bit of help whilst it set where a bunch of gel adhesives were too weak and fluid over the setting...

    Hydraulic brake switches

That's a very neat solution. Couple of possible tape / coating finishes to protect the switches - you'd only need a tiny amount : Everbuild 3 Metre Silweld Silicon Self Fusing Repair Tape Black : Tooled-Up.com (but it'll add a bit of bulk) - or a few coats of this ...

    Puncture Proofing

It's a real shame someone can't come up with something to counter this more effectively to be honest. There are high native hedges lining single track lanes for miles around and when the Council cut them with those mechanical hedge-cutters it's impossible to ride anywhere without going over...
