    Brexit, for once some facts.

when you want to borrow big, lenders want to be reassured that you'll pay them back so your reputation is your most precious guarantee. Give the BoE to Truss and/or Kwasi Kwarteng does not enhance the BoE's reputation. It's obvious to most people except when it's an inconvenient truth to her...

Help! Shengyi DGW07 solder looks to be 'crumbling' inside motor

the 'crumbling' you see on the circuit board is dirt and rust deposit where humidity attracts dirt and rust. You don't have to do anything to them because the board is varnished, thus protected against humidity. The surface of the solder will lose its initial shine but functionally, it won't be...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

“cost of leaving crisis” - cost of EU workers leaving after we voted for brexit. 160,000 vacancies in social care, 110,000 in the NHS and a lot in agriculture. It could have been predicted but at the time but did not get much attention. Starmer may have to broach the subject eventually. To me...

    Big brand vs lesser known?!

On your chart, the blue plot (3m/s) seems surprisingly good. It causes little wear up to 125N compared to 0.8m/s and 0.2m/s. Then the wear goes above the other two as predicted. Do you have an explanation for that?

Help! Cannot find a bike for someone my size in UK at all!

It's a snow bike, BB. They did not particularly try to save on weight, 27kgs. I made some snow bikes before, the frame has to be sturdy because the bike is made to ride in snow. The Woosh Warrior was OK for riders up to 125kgs. This is my snow bike, the frame is aluminium though: In any...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

the less efficient the water companies look after our water, the more likely they can bump up the running cost. As they are remunerated a percentage of the running cost, they are not readily incentivised to be efficient. It's a perverse system that MT government set up in 1989.

that's precisely their point. OFWAT does not want to set strong targets for fear of pushing up the price they charge customers or worse, force government to pay for the improvement.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I can't see that. There is a good article explaining the situation with water companies in the news today. Knee-jerk nationalisers have no idea how the water industry actually works - CapX Basically, OFWAT sets the target of water loss and pollution for water companies. The more money they...

Getting closer to an economic solution to my pedelec needs?

the biggest problem with replacing a broken rear spoke is access to the flange when it's behind the cassette. The z-bend would solve this.

I would recommend a very sturdy 4" fat bike. or convert something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wind-Greeting-Mountain-High-carbon-Suspension/dp/B08C4ZSXW1/ref=asc_df_B08C4ZSXW1 The full suspension will protect the spokes.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

what do you think of Kier Starmer's plan to freeze energy price at current level at the cost of around £30 billions? Money well spent? or should the help be more targetted, with a social rate on energy for the poorest?

z-bend has great advantages like not breaking so why is z-bend not more popular?

    Electric bike problem

you can't change the PAS wiring. There are only 3 wires, +,- and signal. Swapping out is the only simple way to find out what the mystery is.

    Electric bike problem

did the customer replace the pedal sensor? Basically, the programming of the controller can set the PAS to either polarity, single or dual Hall PAS. I use dual Hall for all my controllers. Dual Hall accepts both the North and South polarity so statistically saves time.
