bms is the way to go then you can dump the balance cables as the bms will do that for you. but you will need a charger to match the voltage of the pack you are building so 2s 8.4v charger most rc stuff uses lipo packs the flat ones and have a balance cable on them as dont have a bms.

it wont balance charge unless the balance cable is also connected.
