    Measuring up for helmet?

Haha ... cycling is one activity I would not be keen on doing bare. Brings a whole new perspective on the title of the thread lol ! Portugal is a modest country though - I am surprised at you picking there to do it ! Spain, however is a different story  ... but I definitely understand...

newbie...a short list for pros/cons advice or any better recommendations

Very interesting lolz. How marketing assertions change from one year to the next ! There must be people on here with Bosch 11Ah batteries who can give you their own experiences of realistic battery performance ranges in a variety of conditions as a more reliable guide - which you can adjust for...

    Bosch bikes under £1600??

Check with the shop on the no c2w assumption and whether they participate in the programme - provided that the employer is invoiced for the sale price for the bike then from a tax point of view it is still a qualifying cycle to work purchase by them and the price paid (not original RRP) will be...

Interesting - do you have a link ? Be good to check that out. The only thing I've seen on their website on Bosch batteries is this, which gives the 8Ah battery a 35km range estimate (presumably on an S class bike) Kalkhoff : Bosch - about one sixth of that of the 540Wh one they use with...

Gear options for a crank bike - what's the mose versatile or robust.

... or just get a C11 ;) .. top gears 8-11 are there for riding unassisted above 15mph easily on the flat and low gears are there for the steep hills when you really need 1-3. No compromising required.

That's handy. I think the problem was with the Moustache not being available with the battery upgrade at the time of purchase (always much cheaper than buying the bike with the smaller one and having to buy an extra battery if there is an upgrade option at the time of purchase). You could...

    Selling and Buying Second-hand e-bikes

Interesting thread this - not seen it before. Just to throw in some other considerations on batteries - the charge cycle lives differ enormously. For example, many are 'OK''d to 500 charge cycles whereas others (like Kalkhoff ones) are 1000 cycles and whilst natural ageing does play a part...

    That's great - many thanks. :)

Very impressed by the knowledge and helpfulness on this forum. Can I take advantage?

+1 on the hub gears. Best thing since sliced bread. Having to stop in the right gear for restarting in the middle of chaotic traffic with a derailleur bike is a constant distraction when truth be known. I find derailleur bikes are only really good on the open road or away from it.... and with an...

New Light runs direct from battery.

Do you have it on a swivelmount ? they just swivel to the left or right enough to direct the beam away and back again when the car's gone. But I completely agree a dimmer switch would be better preferably one of those ones which rolls back and forth on a wheel-like thing. Hitting a switch with...

New Light runs direct from battery.

If you have them on high power then they can still be an issue even with the lens - my ostensibly 4000Lm one causes annoyance unless I swivel it to the left a bit on the handlebar swivelmount, even when set on lowest brightnes, but the 1200Lm one is fine. If it's for a magicshine you can just...

New Light runs direct from battery.

The ones I got were actually described as wide angle lenses. The light is channeled into a shape very much like a car headlight. Took me about 2 weeks to track them down though. Thinking wide-angle lenses at the moment ... will update if I manage to find anything similar and same on the o-rings.

    Bridge from battery to controller

That's reassuring - still drive myself round the twist on a regular basis grappling with accepting all sorts of things until I understand why (or more usually when it comes to having things "why not"). The house design was "interesting" as I'm sure you can well imagine. Funny thing is we got...

    Measuring up for helmet?

Had to giggle, sorry. :) Proviz do a nice range of helmets with 3 red flashing LEDs on the back too.... and they come from Jersey :p The Saturn has a flashing front to boot. I've got a Triton (not that I ever wear it much :o) - it would look great with lycra - but then I don't usually go out...

    Bridge from battery to controller

That makes perfect sense and the electronic switch a definite must. Where do I sign ? :D OK. The spray paint idea is definitely better than the Solarfilm for me I think (albeit a domestic will almost certainly ensue when I appear with a can of that lol) - presumably I'm going to have to give...

    Bridge from battery to controller

Was hoping someone might say something like that. I'll try to get the cut on a nice bit of grain rather than a crappy bit now :) ... think I might make a mock-up of the box first and then make it off the template. If I use Polycarbonate spray paint on it should I use some form of clear epoxy...

    Bridge from battery to controller

OK - many thanks and yes please on the PCB, resistors and capacitor :). I will study the picture with more bits in front of me and try to follow it step by step ... and PM you the address. On the FETs, take it I need 4 of them ... are these the same things ? Shipping usually quicker from USA...
