    Brexit, for once some facts.

it's good money, and it does not do their reputation any harm. It's the UK's reputation that is at risk. The UK wants in reality economic migrants but tries to deny it. Turkey and previously Libya take EU's money to do the same thing.

One vote does not make democracy. It's the plurality of voices that makes it. What you proposed is you can only vote for one party, the kind of arguments dictators use to justify their deeds. So they have been voted in once for a limited term, what they do next is becoming corrupt, they change...

I can't see a worldwide single party democracy happening anytime soon. It may happen in science fiction but in science fact, single party implies dictatorship, the opposite of democracy. The latter implies political freedom and requires evidence of plurality. For the foreseeable future, NATO...

China will dominate that relationship if it hasn't already done so. China will be soon the most economically powerful country in the world. Russia could have been a stronger, more independent Australia but Mr Putin has turned his country into not the most liked but the most feared in the world.

Inaccuracy. China and Russia did not fight constantly for 450 years and there is no guarantee that Mr Putin, a proven liar, would respect any treaty between Russia and another country.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Putin wants the land of Eastern Ukraine to belong to Russia. That's different. Not many conflicts are about land and when it is, it's usually ethnic cleansing but not this one. It's about history. Putin wants to go back to before the Bolsheviks. I don't think another Russian president would see...

there will be atrocities in all wars, but what makes Ukraine different is the war in Europe, making it partly our war. So it's easy to see why that most posters on this thread do not like Mr Putin. I am usually do not have a go at heads of states but for once would like to see him tried in the...

the USA's wars were then, and not a subject on this thread. Also, except in Vietnam, those wars involved only a small percentage of US fighting troops or none in the case of Israel, Syria, Libya etc. Putin's war is now and takes place in Europe, within driving distance and very well documented.

one wrong doer does not justify another wrong doer though. Right now, Putin has displaced about 10 million Ukrainians and made about 4 million homeless.

since when? property belongs to the people who live on the territory and is only ceded temporarily to individuals. People give, people take and governments represent people.

Half is not a bad progress. You only have to compare the number of defectors to the West against the same to Moscow to see the direction of people's aspirations.

consider other aspects such as public opinion, freedom of movement, exchange of technology, cultural, sports, tourism etc. Just look where you can fly to from Moscow. Russians and Russia will lose a great deal more if this war lasts any longer than the 9th of May.

they are sanctions on property rights. The West is not trying to imprison their children.

so what? if Russia gives them extra discount because it has fewer customers, then so much better for them. Don't take what happens in Sri Lanka is a result of the war in Ukraine. The point you don't see is the cost of sanctions to the West is much smaller than to Russia. Russia sells less oil...

It's over dramatised, Western countries import only raw material. Exporting countries can easily cope. There is little to do with production capabilities, only profiteering. Trust me, fertilisers are like oil and gas, prices go up but boilers in the West won't be turned off this year or next.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

all that does is to benefit alternatives, wind, solar, even nuclear power. On fertilisers, I worked for one of those NPK fertiliser companies in the summer break when I was a student. I can assure you that the world is not short of non-Russian vendors. There is plenty of supply and profiteering.

talking about the obvious: 1. The sanctions on oil and gas make the oil companies companies richer, but who are they? Aramco, PTR, SNP, Exxon, Total, Shell, BP, Chevron, MPC. So do you see Russian companies anywhere? 2. profit from the sale of Russian oil and gas is milked off the Russian...

I can't see Russia getting the sympathy vote anytime soon from anyone other than those that voted with Russia in the UN. Just look at them: North Korea, Syria, Eritrea are effectively at war themselves and rely on supply from Russia, Belarus is a Russian satellite. All Putin has achieved is to...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

there will be in Russia like elsewhere plenty of people who don't have time for politics and who don't particularly care for one version of history or another. That does not mean that they don't know or suspect they are being lied to, just that until the lies matter in their livelihood then they...
