    Brexit, for once some facts.

dictators tend to rely on corrupting a small circle of people in order to control the apparatus of the state, to pass draconian laws, curb the press, torture dissidents, control who has access to the resources etc. Those people are a lot more sensitive to the idea of winners and losers. It won't...

they perhaps won't vote for ditherers, those prefer sitting on the fence forever to avoid making mistakes. Still, I reckon even dictators will lose after making a big mistake. Orban hasn't yet but Putin has.

There's plenty of oil and gas to make up for the reduction of Russian supply. The big multi nationals exploit the turmoil to inflict misery on billions of human beings especially on the third world too poor to compete for supply. It just like the price of sea freight containers. 1,000%...

The West can easily let Putin know that it is prepared to supply Ukrainians with enough Exocet missiles to defend Odessa. Likewise, Putin already knows that if he hasn't won then it is futile to push on, his soldiers will soon be fed up living in foxholes. It's time to negotiate.

He may have cancer, I don't know but l don't believe that has much influenced his decision to invade Ukraine. He's prepared Russia for war with the West at least since Ukraine failed to implement the Minks protocol.

some 120 old coal fire power stations got converted to gas, so it should be easy to convert them back to use coal, don't you think?

    Brexit, for once some facts.

why don't we switch gas fired power stations to coal for a couple of years to help reduce demand on gas?

The UN can expel members. "A Member of the United Nations which has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter may be expelled from the Organization by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council." All it needs to do is to remove the veto...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

agreed but when you have a vote at the UN like 141/5 with 35 abstention, this is surely a pretty clear cut case to most people. Had it been the other way, Ukraine blitzkriegged the Donbass and wiped out the Pro Russian towns and villages, would you still say it's not clear cut? Putin had a bee...

we should be worried about those with large numbers of nukes, especially those making threats of using them. They can wipe us out anytime they choose to. I am usually against regime change but I would make an exception for dictators. I wish the UN would change its constitution banning countries...

I give up. Your mind is set. Zelenskiy is criminal and/or foolish, Putin has all the rights to do what he did, I have faulty memory and we should just accept that situation as a fact. End of discussion.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Whose memory is defective? Before the war started, there were negotiations between NATO and Russia, not between Ukraine and Russia. The BBC reported extensively on these negotiations and the situation at the border of Ukraine well before the war started. In my previous post, I meant that...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Zelenskyy offered just as much before the war started, the West was well prepared for confrontation, and did not offer much to Putin from his list of demands. Clearly, regime change is preferable. The war was always about Putin and his dictatorship and could only be stopped by Putin. Putin's...

I don't think Putin would have accepted anything less than his full list of conditions, including disarmament of the Ukrainian army. Bush did not pull US troops from Saudi Arabia after Sadam complied under similar situation. As it turns out at the moment, Russia will get limited results for its...
