    Best Electric Bike Battery Option

TLDR: get an oversize battery to help the planet, your wallet and your enjoyment of your bike. A 48V battery charges from 42V to 54V or thereabouts, or to 51.6V if charged to 80%, so the average voltage during use is 95%. Back emf can account for half of that so very roughly when you need...

    Best Electric Bike Battery Option

To be picky the least stressful is "top up if needed, use it, charge it partly" (on a timer) because aging takes off exponentially in the region above 4V and the BMS can kill a battery stored close to empty. And balance occasionally. There's more to it than how long your battery lasts, it...

    Best Electric Bike Battery Option

... provided the £300 one also starts out with 500 cycles (to 15Ah). @David989 at those prices if you have a Wh meter a detailed review would make you very popular here :)

    Best Electric Bike Battery Option

Samsung 50E spec Capacity ≥ 80% of the Rated Discharge Capacity after 500 cycles at Discharge: 1C (4,900mA). In other words for the pack 19Ah new and at least 15Ah after 500 cycles of supplying 19A in round figures.

    Best Electric Bike Battery Option

They've a 48V 20AH Samsung Cells 21700 Battery for an unbelievable £280 delivered, amazing, but -site:greenlance.co.uk "greenlance" review finds ads, one Amazon review that's been taken down, "isn't my battery fast" on Youtube and... you here on Pedelecs  This is at least your third...

Suggestion that delivery companies should check their riders bikes are legal !!!!!!

I don't think it's that simple, for example "Lord Rodger of Earlsferry's approach (in common with all those on the committee) was to identify the statutory intention to be imputed to Parliament in connection with the consequences of a breach" Soneji I reckon the regulation wording is anything...

    Makita Power

A nice neat job but beyond about 6A the diodes will probably need a heatsink and luckily there's plenty of space. https://en.sekorm.com/doc/2178126.html

What do you think of my new bike?

Agreed not "like for like" and there's a healthy and justified demand for hub drive, external battery and conventional frame. Decathlon's a budget brand yet in comparison Woosh's contender offers mudguards, rack and hopefully more rider/load capacity and hackability or options, and famed...

What do you think of my new bike?

Aside from Woosh's comments in #55 and the trend towards integrating the battery, being on the underside helps protect it from overheating when parked in strong sun, and the flat topped downtube might take another battery. Imagine if the wiring behind the battery connector were accessible, ready...

What do you think of my new bike?

Guys how often is a new bike announced? Let's get back on topic.

What do you think of my new bike?

Guerney said: "If your bike can cope with 20A 48V reliably, it'd suit..." "people deserve a shot at increasing their fitness through regular use of a legal pedelec." I heartily agree, and "maximum _rated_ continous power" suggests others do too. With a 20A controller limited to 25kph the bike...

What do you think of my new bike?

As a real MTB it seems a bit heavy, long (less nimble) and undergeared. As a pure commuter it's heavy with squishy forks and so-so (too short) mudguards. With a stout frame and mid-drive as given it yearns to be a stylish utility bike with modest off-road ability, who could say no to that? OK...

What do you think of my new bike?

My first thought was (so shoot me) At last adequate mud clearance at one end anyway. As a hybrid with above average off-road ability, a great mix, mud looks like the first limitation, long before the sensible fork complains. Cargo carrying seems to be surging in popularity and Flecc's nailed...

    Return to the bent!

(Hah, I bought a used Kalkhoff!) That's a cruel twist Benjahmin but it'll be worth the wait. Best wishes to both you and @sjpt with his knee.

    Return to the bent!

Glad it's all falling into place. How do current and speed mode compare and are the numbers you gave with the controller in current mode? I can't make out how your controller box clears the shock and mudguard, can you post another pic?

    Discharge Converters?

Great info Sturmey, I'm glad you beat me to the Edit/Retract button. Website: "When you use a 52v battery and 48v battery then the 52v battery will be used first until its voltage is the same as the 48v battery at which point the batteries will run at the same time until the 52v reaches its low...

    Discharge Converters?

Yeah, when I looked a few listings had FET-ty background images but all the descriptions would be met by any old diodes, so not much chance of a refund if they lose a volt. Best to ask sellers who only do bike bits and are well known, until you get a reply worth saving!

    New Project Started

Stem 120mm -> 40mm saves 80mm, basket length ~250mm, hmm. How about a child seat clamp around the head tube so as to frame mount the basket?

A bike for 'Eddy' - just for starts and steep hills?

So at the moment OP's friend aims to find and make do with the OTS ebike that helps the most. Is he at all open to designing the built up bike that helps him the most, or the most discretely?

    Lidl and Aldi purchases ?

A US forum user showed a hoist in use, along with a foldable (or telescopic?) wall mounted arm, a bit like a drop leaf shelf support or monitor arm. Wish I could recall how it attached to the bike.
