    Reflective spoke straws.

I prefer lights to reflectives, i run a couple of Cateye Orbits and a Fibre Flare light for side visibility. It seems to help a lot. And the Fibre Flare looks like a tiny lightsaber, which is cool.:D

    Valve problem (Schrader)

Buy a valve extractor, you can get one from most car spares shops for less than a bike shop will charge you. I bought one from Halfrauds perhaps a dozen years ago. Then just screw out the valve core, its probably just blocked with a bit of grit. May be worth buying some spare cores when you get...

    Inter-8 Geared Hub,

Personally i'd use an Alfine 8 hub as they're much more reliable. Also, the 11 speed Alfine which is due to be released anytime about now, is allegedly a LOT better than anything except a Rohloff, but still a lot cheaper. Probably a lot more than an Alfine 8 though.

Unless its a friend i would hand the keys of my ZX12R, they wouldnt be allowed near it!

    First Impressions

Oh i'm a Cyclamatic convert too, for the money its a great bike, and it 4-500 was my budget i wouldnt hesitate to buy myself one. But, i'm not keen on the "battery behind the seatpost" design, it makes the bike so long that it turns like a barge. Oh and the forks are useless, and i want disc...

    First Impressions

Agreed, feeling like the Lance Armstrong of the Manchester cycle commute IS fun, although i do feel a bit guilty as my panniers and the dark nights and rush hour traffic noise completely hide my assistance. Next week is going to be rough, back to un-assisted hybrid riding. The Cyclamatic goes...

    Storck Raddar / Cosworth News

Absolutely, if they're as good as you claim they will sell like hot cakes, but until that claimed range is well proven people will remain very skeptical. I'm sure no offence was meant though.

Halfords - not impressed. The Bicycle Workshop - very impressed.

Some of the tools in Halfords are very good though, better even than Park Tools in many cases. I highly recommend these allen keys which have proven to be MUCH more durable than any i've ever used before. Not a mark on one after four years heavy use, leaning they fit perfectly and dont round the...

    New 48V ! Bionx

Yep, i came to the same conclusion, which is why after lots of research i've decided i'll be buying an Aurora. Oh i'm sure Wispers and such are fine bikes, but i cant justify the premium for one. As for the law, well that's an ass isnt it? The BionX 48v looks good, but HOW MUCH!? for a kit?!

Is it safe to fit a motor to carbon forks?

Agreed, different direction, but the same axis, so it should be ok. I wouldnt do it either, but my reason would be that such light weight is just not required when you have a motor. Light-ish short travel suspension forks would be the best choice. If money allows and you're using 26" wheels i'd...

Is it safe to fit a motor to carbon forks?

I think you can be pretty sure that if the fork sports a disc brake mount it can handle the torque of a 250w motor easily. Braking torque from high speed is many times higher. I'd not try it on bladed carbon road bike forks though.

Softer tyres - cause what problems?

Lower tyre pressures do give a much greater chance of pinch punctures (also often called "snakebites". The sympton is that a square edged bump pinches the tyre and tube within against the wall over the wheel rim, and the wall of the wheel itself punctures the tube. These tend not to happen...

    Aurora arrived today!!!!!

I dont think i'd tackle building my own LED rear light, id much rather buy one or just make do with the 36v bulb. Thanks for all the info everyone. I have to agree that the Aurora miles ahead of everything else in terms of value.

    Sachs Electric bikes

Were Sachs gears not what eventually became SRAM (with a number of other acquisitions)? Do they still have some sort of link?

    Aurora arrived today!!!!!

Thanks jbond. I imagine its quite difficult to source a 36v LED rear light to replace the bulb with as most bike lights and even car LED's wont take that voltage?

Does a fit person need an ebike?

Well i suppose being new to this, i'm relating feelings about it long time eBikers are already familiar with, so excuse my lack of originality.:D

    Aurora arrived today!!!!!

Nice bike, but as a prospective Aurora buyer, i have a few questions, first, what do you mean by: "I'll also take the advice of fellow Aurora owners and fix that damn battery rattle/squeak, and may remove the steering 'damper'." Also, i have to ask why you're fitting slime tube with...

Does a fit person need an ebike?

I dont think these reasons fit for me. I'm fairly fit, and do one way of the 18 mile commute in about 35 minutes (So almost 17mph average) on my hybrid. However i find myself jumping on my Kawasaki ZX12R or on the tram (i dont own a car!) by the fourth or fifth day of the week because i seem to...
