    iPhone and Wireless Networked Bike

Thanks for the clarification, scenario A, maybe, although the fitness crowd mostly buy normal bikes and can track everything they need with a GPS enabled HRM. Still, i concede, it'll appeal to those of very poor fitness or with health problems. Scenario B sounds far too hypothetical, i cant...

I've killed the Cyclamatic bottom bracket

...in a day less than two weeks. :( Ooops, i can be hard on kit. I'm not too upset, and i'm sure SportsHQ would sort it, but i'd rather use this as an opportunity to upgrade. Does anyone know the size and type of bottom bracket it uses without me pulling the cranks off?

Ground clearance must be an issue with that right? I mean, a big curb would wipe out the motor!:(

    Warped slick tyres....from new

23c tyred racing bikes tend to run between 120 and 130psi, yes, it is uncomfortable, but fast, and the pressure need to be well over 100psi just to stop pinch flats on such thin tyres.

He wasnt the inventor, just the owner of the company.

    Warped slick tyres....from new

Tyres often dont sit quite perfectly on a rim. Its nothing to worry about, they are not faulty.

    apple mac and all that......

Currently Macs are on OSX Snow Leopard, although OSX Lion is due very soon. All new Macs get iLife '11 which includes iPhoto, iMovie and perhaps most interestingly for you, GarageBand. So a photo editor, movie editor and audio program. All of which are quite well respected consumer level packages.

    Storck Raddar / Cosworth News

Agreed, any marketing company would have a fit if you suggested calling your product Storck Raddar anyway. It really doesnt translate well, in fact, the Storck name is mildly off-putting to me, despite a good reputation, if just doesnt look nice on a downtube.

    Storck Raddar / Cosworth News

It does sound interesting, i'd be interested in reading your detailed press release once its out. This certainly feels more concrete than the smoke and mirrors of the iPhone eBike (gotta love those second letter capitals!)

Electric Bikes - Brands and Prcing

This iphone/ipad/laptop thing. I'm and IT professional and complete gadget freak, but i really cant see why i'd want to connect any of these to my bike. It should just have the necessary control on the bike in the form of buttons on the handlebar, maybe a nice readout. So, convince me, why...

    NuVinci gear hub

Unless you can stop the derailleur moving on two axis then it wont be very good as a tensioner, because it will pull outwards as well as upwards. It may be possible to set the end point so it goes no further then you need, but then again it may not, as that adjustment is quite limited. It would...

    Surprising speed

Today i started my second week on my borrowed Cyclamatic. I've done a whole bunch of mods: 1. Swapped the forks for Rockshox Dart 2's. 2. Put decent full length V-brake pads in 3. Swapped the tyres to fast rolling Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.1" mountain bike tyres. 4. Swapped the useless...

    Pavement Segway rider found guilty

Does the Segway not also have issues with hard braking, making emergency stops from their top speed next to impossible? At least compared to bicycle stopping distances.

    Hello from Lurker....and pricing question

Having looked at the specs of everything from Cyclamatic's at £400 to top Whisper models, i would have to agree that the premium seems unreasonable. Essentially there is little "wrong" with the cyclamatic, the forks arent much good, but aside from that its a decent machine. High end Wispers...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

Ah well, ressurected, but still an interesting poll. I leave the battery on the bike in my work car park, but that is indoor and quite secure. I dont think i'd leave it on outside unless it was only for 5 mins. The battery locks, but i can imagine people mangling it in trying to remove it. Also...

    NuVinci gear hub

I'd love a NuVinci, or a Rohloff (my wallet may not like that one), or even an Alfine 11 if it ever arrives. Hub gears are great, but, i wouldnt want an eBike to be front wheel powered, i think that's a handling compromise i wouldnt be prepared to accept.

Does a fit person need an ebike?

Arent 2wd Urals illegal here? Thats the version i always fancied, must be unstoppable off road. I've got a Kawasaki ZX12R currently, and no car. I just like two wheels. I think i'll change the ZX12R within the next 12 months, i never thought i'd say it, but the power doesnt interest me...

    Reflective spoke straws.

I know they'll make no noticeable difference to your Aurora, but i wonder if the drag would be noticeable on a normal bike? Afterall, so many high end bikes use flattened aero or carbon blades.
