    Old Giant struggles with hill.

I know, weird? It's probably just user error. I'll get out there again, stay in low gear and make sure I pedal constantly to the top. The problem is that cars keep driving up and down and I don't have the confidence I had 5 or 10 years ago. And the potholes...

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

It's not like a lack of power, it feels more like it just cuts out. At the top of the hill everything's fine again...

Maybe you're viewing it on a computer, I can't read that on my phone.

The controller is screwed to a flat metal plate that is welded to the frame, so I doubt that it's getting hot, but hard to check without taking the covers off. I could attach a temperature sensor, but there are already too many cables and connectors vying for space.

I'll do some more testing if it ever stops raining.

Are you saying that the reported wattage on the display isn't accurate?

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

The thing is, I'm happy to supply some of the effort... I will try on level 1 and level 2... But just trying to get my head round how these cheap controllers work, because when I was testing this setup, with the driven front wheel off the floor, it seemed like the power to the hub motor cut off...

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

I mean it's not like it's a really steep or long hill. For anyone who has some fancy cycling map app, the bottom of the hill is ///irrigate.absent.tornado and the top is ///landed.stun.caveman Trouble is, it's winding, potholed and has cars on it. In an ideal universe, I'd find a nice quiet...

I'll give it a try in L1 or L2. I'm also not sure if the current limit setting does anything at all.

Using PAS, the rear dropout torque sensor voltage range is not right for the throttle input on the Brainpower. If I could demonstrate to my own satisfaction that the bike will function well, I'll invest some time in voltage translation, as I believe torque sensors feel more natural. The PAS is...

    Not that I can find.

The controller says 350W. Anyway, thanks for the reply, but there's no way I'm buying a new hub motor - I've thrown too much cash at this already!

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

So after many distractions and delays, I finally road tested my ancient Giant Twist Express, with a new controller (Brainpower with an S866) and a new 36V battery[original battery was 24]from Yose Power. On the flat it seems a little too lively, even on level 1 assist, but I still seem to have...

    Puncture repair

I've been mending punctures for 60 years(not continuously, I have done some other stuff), and the thing I guess I've done wrong(after watching that video) is that I pump the tube up and check the repair in a bowl of water before putting it back in the tyre. The next time I need to mend a...

    charging a battery help

As far as I know, the charger decides that the battery is charged when the current going into the battery falls below a set level, so it could be that wiggling the connector achieved this. In an ideal universe, chargers would also incorporate safety mechanisms such that they would stop charging...
