    Grease.

Just spat out my Horlicks ... think my VHS version is still intact even if the player has long since died. Far harder-wearing ... than the Betamax that is, not the leggings ! That would be an 80s teenage boys' dream ;) Flashdance got the .. er .. pulse racing though ...

    Camera broke. :(

Personally, I wouldn't get anything other than a GoPro for outdoor use. They are built to withstand all the knocks you can reasonably give them. Broken and damaged too many cheaper cameras along the way in one way or another ! GoPro Official Website: The World's Most Versatile Camera Just my...

    Chain cleaning tool issues

Thank you all !! I'll try to get some help to hold the bike steady when it's raised up tomorrow in the daylight. Definitely want a stand now ... hoiking that thing (sorry ... my beloved bike :p ... it's only "that thing" when it gets the better of me !) onto wheelie bins isn't something I'm...

    Chain cleaning tool issues

More novice's frustrations this afternoon. Bought a Park Tool Cyclone chain cheaner (still in its box) having watched this video : How to clean and lube a bike chain - YouTube All looks dead easy. Until you realize that you cannot get the chain to rotate on an Agattu when spinning the...

    Bike workstands for pedelecs

It's very tempting at that price ! Just to check though, the Agattu is a step-through has no horizontal bar to clamp. Therefore your options are basically seat post or main frame. The seat post diameter is 35mm and the main frame is extremely chunky (55.7mm measured diameter if my maths is...

    Winter Gloves

I think this lot reckon theirs are pretty hot and very comfy too ... but the price is just ludicrous : Assos Winter Glove System Pack, Assos, Assos GLOVES WINTER Do they have any grip, Morphix ? I tend to find my hands slipping all over the place with fleece Thinsulate and the like ... but...

    Bike workstands for pedelecs

Looking at getting a Park Tools stand for use with Agattu Step-Through and possibly another bike not (yet) converted. There are 2 models under consideration : Park Home Mechanic Repair Stand PCS10 : Bikes | Mountain Bikes | Road Bikes| Winstanleys Cycles and Park Home Mechanic Repair Stand...

    Winter Gloves

Still haven't found any non-wet weather Winter Gloves (as opposed to Autumn / mild Early Winter ones) that I like, don't involve removal to do anything remotely fiddly and don't cost a fortune. Tried these tonight : Proviz, Reflective Winter Glove from only £21.99. Free UK Delivery | Wheelies...

A bright light may save your life

Saw those big ones on demo at the NEC show - they are incredible but a bit too "bling bling" (as 'they' say !) at that size for me ;) ... . Also, I think you have to be going a fair old whack for the whole pattern to be seen properly - one of the Amazon reviews says 30 kph+ for the pattern to...

A bright light may save your life

Agree, but not on the high-powered lights if they have a diffuser and are on the right setting. They look nothing like the blinding flashing torches which cause all the problems. I'm a fan of blue LED though. Very effective at night. Proviz - High Visibility Cycling | High Visibility Running...

    Electric kit or new bike?

That box solution looks great (as does the bike !). The triangle battery is a great idea but $600 + landing costs and only 11.5Ah is well "beyond" !!

    Electric kit or new bike?

I'd very likely want a 20Ah battery hence was thinking centre placement would be best .. the rack slot idea is interesting though. Would you still be able to hang panniers off the rack like you can with a regular frame ? I've usually got 2 x XL 35L ones, a rackbag or duffel strapped to the rack...

    Brightest possible front light

Slight variation on the above based on what's currently on e-bay etc. but installed one of these : CREE XM-L T6 LED 1000 Lumen Bike Light & Headlamp Kit | C&B SEEN Ltd Battery just straps to my handlebars and the light is about as central as you could get. Comes with headband kit for...

    Electric kit or new bike?

Just seen Morphix's post above. It is extremely informative and very helpful to someone trying to get to grips with the basics. The battery placement thing is something I never thought about properly ... having a crank drive delivered "built" with the battery in the middle and a key to lock it...

    Mossy roads and paths

Still tearing up the tarmac on my Marathon Plus Tours ... not a hint of slippage so far touch wood. Conti Winters arrived though, which is nice. When I've found somewhere to read up how to get the blasted chain tight again after refitting the wheel they might even go on !

Is there any hub drive bike worth paying more than £1700?

I reckon I can manage the dremelling and wheel/spoke work but the soldering is a skill I do not have, nor the tools. Stood over a plumber whilst he dripped bits all over the floor trying to solder a pipe though ... if that counts. Is this really likely to be a sticking point for a rear-wheel hub...
