    Chinese embracing E-bikes

also the Chinese authorities for all their many flaws elsewhere in the political arena appear to be pragmatic when it comes to enforcing traffic laws... another poster mentioned some of the newer Chinese e-mopeds will easily do 20+mph but the cops turn a blind eye to what would be classed as a...

    Cyclist critical after attack

definitely. some of these tactics will be needed again as the younger people get a bit angrier, disaffected and full of despair (which was the reality of the 1950s-1980s for many).

    Cyclist critical after attack

one suggested is to speed up but ride in such a way that you are prepared to mow down one or more of the agressors - at least this way you have the weight advantage and will take down at least one of them with you - and even if the cops did turn you over it could be explained away as a road...

    Cyclist critical after attack

hmm - it says he was actually pulled from his bicycle (implying he was attempting to escape) and that one assailant was himself on a bike. It gets ever bleaker (at least an e-bike would still be faster as an escape vehicle)

    Cyclist critical after attack

you mentioned it shortly after the recent murders on your estate, which did make it look like it was a recent incident...however if it were in your youth that would have been around the 1950s. I had somewhere a very interesting book called "The Insecure Offenders" which discussed the crime...

    security chain locks

did you have any luck finding the prototype? anyone told the cops? (presumably it will be abandoned somewhere when the battery runs out, and is distinctive even in terms of e-bikes). TBH I find it hard to make light of something like this - hard working people from a decent British business...

    Cyclist critical after attack

This may well work for the middle aged or older when faced with a much younger threat - there isn't much "street cred" in attacking an old man who has shown no aggression, and is also unlikely to have a mobile phone or Ipod or any property worth stealing! I used to live in the nearly the same...

    Cyclist critical after attack

There is still a right of self defence in this country - which often is successfully used especially by the older generation (even with the use of weapons and firearms) but the main reason males are often initially arrested for defending themselves is due to a perception by cops/criminal justice...

    Cyclist critical after attack

one issue I notice (not just in the London suburbs either) is many roads / paths have had barriers/pinch points inserted to keep out mini motos or even rat-running motorists - these areas create situations where a cyclist can be delayed and attacked... Otherwise its easy to leave such potential...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

unfortunately one of the unintended consequences of the mainstream media publicity ebikes are getting is that this is unlikely to remain the case for long. There is already a report of a poster in SW England whose new Wisper was vandalised (in such a fashion that would maybe imply the...

    New X bike

yeah unfortunately thats the deal breaker for a lot of people.. otherwise powabyke have done a really good job of making a machine which is also appealing to younger riders as well (assuming that pl1974 uses his year of birth in his username...)

    E bike dealers - Suffolk/North Essex?

I've already been in touch with Wisper (who have been excellent in their responses) but as straylight mentions, it seems like there are few dealers of any e-bike in I accept there are really good mail order places and to be fair ETS was responsive during the sale but it doesn't make Cambridge...

Wisper 905se Sport FCB Wiring Diagram

sorry to hear this - I literally don't let my e-bike out of my sight and have never parked it up in town for this reason.. (I always take my unpowered bike as its only a couple of miles to town anyway) My local Councillor (a keen cyclist and very supportive of better facilities) had his...

    E-bike sales

have you discussed with them why they are unwilling to do so? are they frightened of traffic, worried about theft or think its too much effort? in my teens it was the opposite, my parents thought it was dangerous and wouldn't let me!

    E-bike sales

I'm also in East Anglia and I wasn't the first person amongst those I know to have an e-bike; I had already seen two or three on the streets some of the staff at my employers from the phillipines obtained a powacycle. I was sceptical at first, plus the original powacycles (pre X series) whilst...

    E bike dealers - Suffolk/North Essex?

Are there any dealers of e-bikes (particularly Wispers) in Ipswich or Mid Suffolk (Stowmarket etc), Felixstowe or Colchester or any of these areas? I am looking to eventually upgrade, most likely to a Wisper 905 City, but am looking for a closer dealer than ETS in Cambridge - I don't drive /...

    Steel or alloy/alluminium forks?

Pioneer LX Gents 2006 model (non suspension fork) it was my main bike from 2006 until December 2008 when I bought the ebike, done about 5000 miles on it and I would say its a good medium priced 700c wheeled hybrid. I haven't measured the distance between the forks though (that said I had...

    Steel or alloy/alluminium forks?

I have a pioneer as my main non-powered bike and I am sure it has steel forks and aluminium frame...my powacycle salisbury does have steel forks (although not front wheel drive) as I checked the forks with a fridge magnet

    Interesting article

shame their editors didn't put half as much effort into accurately reporting about the bikes as they did about the clothes :( at least if braying young Tory types / Daily Mail readers start buying e-bikes instead of cars they might learn how dangerous the roads are and wish to do something...
