    Wisper 905se on ebay

TBH I'd ask more questions - most people wouldn't spend £1300 on a Wisper then "hardly ever use it" - unless she (or the person who bought it for) was really intimidated by the roads or had got unwell and was unable to cycle (which sadly seems to be a common occurence with e-bikers given their...

    going more than 15mph

it may take a combination of this in hilly areas and encouraging cycling in "flatter" areas (though neither East Anglia nor the Netherlands are completely flat, and both plagued by headwinds) whatever happens, I think by the time I am in my mid 40s or 50s the "business as usual" situation of...

    Powacycle Technician

yes, there are major problems with money (i.e the budgets the clients provide for the project) and the exact same human attitudes towards industrial relations / bosses vs workers we had when manufacturing was in England or Europe. The Chinese had a similar discussion in Singapore a couple of...

    going more than 15mph

whilst this is undoubtedly true, the chap who writes the blog is a British expat (not a native) who used to live in Cambridge. What he was saying is that around the time I was born (which I'm sure as you know was a first resurgence in eco-awareness) the Dutch made a concious collective effort...

    Powacycle Technician

unfortunately I really think Powacycle have been "victims of their own success" - they have sold loads of units whilst at the same time been hit by exchange rate fluctuations (look at the financial reports of Ultima networks plc and you will see) last year they sold more of their bikes but...

    250W / 48V 10ah on-off Road? (BMX)‏‏

I think 48V is also a maximum set for electrical safety of portable equipment (above that it is subject to the same regulations as mains powered equipment) as well as just applying to e-bikes.. its picked as its the highest voltage telecoms equipment usually operates at (other than ringing voltage)

    going more than 15mph

it won't be easy in places like SE England (its different in East Anglia where there clearly already is more of a cycling culture) but I expect the war and continuing economic depression linked with resource depletion and peak oil will make it a necessity in my lifetime, just as it was in your...

    going more than 15mph

our youths are no different than those in Beijing or Singapore (other than some having less tech skills). Particularly in Singapore, the youths did just this with their ebikes, proceeded to ride then on paths shared by pedestrians and there were injury collisions involving pedestrians and other...

    going more than 15mph

I ddin't realise on this forum Guru was manually added, although it is different again than other vbulletin forums I am on (and I am a mod on two others) where you can choose your own title as well (within reason) As for speed, would like 20mph max on the open road but I certainly would not...

    going more than 15mph

it is simply a setting on the vbulletin forum software used on this and many other internet forums, you get it after a certain number of posts. I have the same status on a VOIP/telecoms forum..

    going more than 15mph

I work in telecoms/networking and end users still "pick up" a phone and "hang up" or even "ring off" when they are finished with their call, rather than "seizes and clears", and telephones rarely have handles at the side of them to turn the magneto these days!, nor separate receivers to "hang"...

    250W / 48V 10ah on-off Road? (BMX)‏‏

The Powacycle Salisbury is plated with voltage and wattage as well as the name of a Chinese company (presumably where it is made). At least mine is anyway. Nothing about age mentioned though... The Wisper does have a label of voltage/wattage on the hub motor (not exactly prominent).

    eBike surge in popularity

Rather than divisive "subsidies" I'd instead prefer existing tax to be spent on decent and equitable transport for all (yes, even including responsible motorists) in a similar fashion to the Netherlands, in such as way that everyone has less "breaks" (as in broken bones!)

    LBS - any good?

indeed - and yet here are customers who have mostly invested a four figure sum in their bikes, who go thousands of miles on them (and obviously need repairs done), who are willing to accept the costs and these LBS owners are just walking away from this lucrative business  I personally...

    going more than 15mph

I found online an extract of "Blik op de Weg" (Eye on the Road, a Dutch version of "police, camera, action") where some dude was going at about 60+ km/h on the bike path, only to earn himself a stop from the cops and possibly a traffic violation ticket.. I've heard some Dutch people claim there...

Ezee Torq stolen in Portsmouth City Centre

TBH I don't think that the kind of person who might buy a stolen Ezee (or a higher end pushbike like a flash racer or mountainbike) is usually jobless though.. they wouldn't be able to afford even the "street value" and contrary to popular misconception, the more successful drug dealers (i.e...

Electric Bikes Terrorize the Streets of China (?)

not to my knowledge. The only electric vehicle RTC's have been that of elderly folks mobility scooters, with both driver and victims being of similar age groups.
