Re the new Gales black chainguard, suggest it be at least a half guard. Have ruined too many light coloured summer trousers with chain oil and muck. The chain will also last a lot longer if protected from front wheel spray and grit! Here is a picture of a real bike with a real chainguard, hehe...

Of course the resistance calculated is really of the whole system, Batt, Controlr, & Motor. Taking the dynamic impedance of an inductor like a motor, and any capacitance, into consideration is way beyond my pay grade! :-)

Well the serial number of the XH370-13J battery is AEJHJB1AH02H1529, as far as I can make it out behind the chainwheel (not being able to slide it out coz its stuck :-(). Afaik in Ohms law, the resistance R, is given by dividing the Voltage V, by the Current I. So, in the case of my batt, 31V...

Controller label says 7A rated load and 14A max, so with an LVC of 31v, and as it cuts out under load I kept it simple and put those figures into Ohms law. 14A would of course give a much higher internal resistance figure. (all assuming one ignores the controller and motor in the circuit)

Anybody know how to date a Phylion battery pls? Do they have a date stamp anywhere outside or inside? Or can the date be deduced from the serial number? Likewise, any ideas on if a Woosh bike frame serial number has the date of manufacture in it? Already got the controller date 06 2014 Cheers

Oh right, thanks for reminding me Woosh, this newbie was forgetting about Voltage Sag. So the Phylion battery is sagging from 33.3v at rest to the 31v LVC of the controller under say 7A load, giving 4.4ohms Internal Resistance at 214Watts power. It was shutting down 3 times during yesterdays runs.

I read in the post about a Zephyr B that its battery discharges thus: ["Each 1 Volt drop is worth about 10% of the capacity, so ... 33.5V: 30% remaining 32.5V: 20% remaining 31.5V: 10% remaining"] So if my Woosh Gale's battery cuts out at 33.3v does that mean that mean its lost 30% capacity? As...

"Anti-Scruff protection"! Yes, very important these days.There's a lot of scruffs about Do they ever change their quality control stickers? Does "20" and "02" mean anything? Did they make a drain hole in the controller housing, or at least seal the entries? Cheers

This example seems to have a foot on the stand, but it's difficult to tell coz the logo gets in the way. I notice that the stand is attached to the chainstay, and not under the axle nut, this will also avoid dropout/axle corrosion.

I also forgot to suggest a cure for the steel motor axle corroding itself into the alloy dropout on the left, non-drive side. I think the steel stand in contact with the ground makes a galvanic corrosion connection with the axle & dropout. When i had a puncture i had to put the axle nut back on...

Thanks for the preview pic of the new Gale. I thought it was going to be black. Still a lot of blue met paint left then Did removing the rear disc make the bike any slimmer? It really needs to go on a diet! Hope it folds more compactly than this example, hehe.

Apparently there is a new Gale on the way. I wonder if it is anything like Addmotor Motan and its ilk? The move to 1 1/8 headset means a Dahon style handlepost with a neat hinge can be used instead of Zoom.

Forgot to mention that both brake cut-outs on the Gale's Wuxing levers have failed. First was pretty much DOA and i was promised a replacement that never came, and the second failed this year. Power can be stopped by back-pedaling, but on a derailleur bike one must pedal forward to change down...

If you mean to Velcro ON some buffers, yes. If you mean Velcro the frame folded, no, that wont prevent the parts of the frame damaging each other. I mean rubber buffers in BETWEEN the frame parts. They could even have the Woosh logo on them and be used as part of the branding on your folding bikes.

The Gale headset may wear prematurely, and you may be unable to keep them adjusted. So fit new ball bearings in cages, with plenty of grease and hope the bearing races have not worn thru the hardened layer, or you'll need a whole new headset. Not expensive, but a fiddly job or costs if a shop...
