If it`s slipping/jumping on the small rear cogs only possibly the chain is too slack, or more likely just wear over time, how many miles on it?. If that`s the case you`d then have to replace both chain and cassette

Got that exact same battery from Jimmy over a year ago, it`s hooked up to a BBS HD set at 30A - absolutely no problems so far. Cant see why you would need anything else especially a big heavy triangle pack adding to the weight.

HD will certainly give more power (i have both the 02 and HD versions) but something that hasn`t already been mentioned before is the HD will be ultra quiet compared to anything else I`ve never needed anything above PAS 5 on even the steepest of hills. Range depends on a multitude of things but...

you mean better than Shimanos recommended service oil (part SG-S700), why don`t shimano then recommend grease? what about the added resistance of grease compared to fluid? and how is gear shifting now with the greased cogs?

If it`s an Alfine 8 IGH you`re referring to, it has to be dipped in Shimanos special fluid or ATF oil.

The chain is much too loose, opening the throttle under those conditions would cause a violent `slap` on the chain. If the chain is under a degree of tension to begin with the force of opening the throttle would be gradual, not instant. Also use some of the stronger 7/8spd chains, like KMC...
