New to e-bikes, considering Brompton conversion.

not that I know of. You have the hub gears at the rear wheel. It's possible to replace the rear wheel with a hub motor like my DWG2NC but you would lose the gears, reducing what we call gear inches by about 25%-35%, imagine you are pedalling with the gear stuck in gear 1. Front hub kits are the...

Can anyone help me adding a throttle to a carrera crossfire e bike please

you need pretty good soldering skills and understanding of electronics to do this. Basically, you unplug the cable between the pedal / torque sensor and the controller, add an arduino kit in series between the sensor and the controller. The arduino receives the power from the controller and...

Help! Can you help me find an E-bike?

That motor is only rated 60NM. Would that be enough for a heavy riders with steep gradients?

Help! Can you help me find an E-bike?

seriously, what can you build for say half that, £1500? or how much would you have to spend DIY to match the performance of a £3k ready made bike?

Help! Can you help me find an E-bike?

due to your weight, hill climbing requirement and range, I would suggest the Gran Camino. It's comfortable on long rides with its larger tyres and longer fork travel compared to road bikes, more powerful motor and excellent brakes too. https://wooshbikes.co.uk/gran-camino

    Woosh Woosh TS BB kit

I agree that the power should be reduced when you put less pedalling force. what I mean by "the BBTS is not programmed to reduce power before reaching the speed limit" is Bosch for example reduces the power when the speed approaches 25kph before cutting off while the BBTS will cut off as soon as...

    Woosh Woosh TS BB kit

I am sorry for ther delay. I will remind Andy later this morning. This is common to most torque sensor systems. The motor won't start until the bike moves though. The initial push-off is supposed to help you starting off. It should only last very little time, just enough for the sensor to get...

    King Meter KM-529 assist levels

I don't have a configurator for Lishui controllers but I have different firmware files / profiles. The Lishui controller with factory programming behaves like in this video: The motor will not cut out before you reach the speed limit as set in the LCD settings in all assist levels, from 1, 2...

    Folding bikes

I use my converted Brompton to ride around town. It's main advantage is lightweight compared to my other e-bikes, the motor adds 1.5kgs and 10AH battery under 2kgs. I can pick it up with one hand by the saddle and carry it up a few steps. Try picking up and carrying any other electric bike by...

    Eleglide experiences

those cable operated hydraulic brakes have some of the qualities of hydraulic brakes like the pads are long lasting, auto-centre and auto-adjust but they don't compare well with normal hydraulic brakes. The hydraulic circuit does not need greasing like cables do, does not compress, have much...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

I would have continued with the Rambla if Bafang didn't put up their price when the worse of covid ended. Replacing the MaxDrive with the Ananda saves me $150 on each bike. I can keep the lid on the £1,500 price range.

    Assist cuts out occasionally

No. However, his lcd stays on and controller cuts out points to controller overheating as the probable cause.

    Which Hybrid would you recommend?

From my point of view, mid drives are just as reliable as hubs.

    Assist cuts out occasionally

he rode that bike and kit for 5 years. The most he had to do is to switch the battery off and on again to reset the controller.

    Which Hybrid would you recommend?

My choice would be a tsdz8 kit on a full sus donor bike.
