Just noticed an advertising vehicle trying to get EU citizens to apply for settled status - a bit late being the last day to apply. But also a bit, umm, Libya. The web address displayed is: bit.ly/EUSettled I can't for the life of me think why they couldn't use a gov.uk version - whether a URL...

I wouldn't mind imminent unmasking if we had a similar number of cases. Newcastle is now at highest rate since October.

All my life I have been amazed at the commuting that people take on. I've done enough myself - long distance and local. When I first started, it was about twenty minutes of train and thirty minutes walking. Unpleasant in bad weather, I have to say! But the walk was usually positive.

The inference we are supposed to draw being that if we are diligent students and do this learning properly, all will be well. Not that we will simply live with Covid. Suffer with Covid. Die with Covid. And, if we survive, go on to suffer long Covid. Not that the health services need to be...

Given that the government is set on abandoning all Covid precautions, the obvious likely outcome is a rise in cases. OK, it is claimed that those with full vaccination are less likely to need hospital treatment, but the numbers who do need admission are probably going to be considerable. What...

I see Jenrick has spouted: Face masks to be personal choice after final lifting of restrictions, says UK minister Trouble is, what matters to me is everyone one else wearing them. The one I wear makes only a little difference but the ones everyone else wear reduce the potential for them to...

I can see the difference in fuel consumption due to speed very clearly in my ICE car - its instantaneous, journey and average fuel consumption figures all being readily available. Yes, I agree, 65 to 75 makes a pronounced difference.

I don't care what order the effects - in the real world, fast acceleration requires more energy. And affects the design and construction of vehicles able to achieve that rather than more sedate acceleration. From tyres, through sustainable current, battery cooling, and on and on.

It was said quite early on that a third dose using the same carrier (an adenovirus for AstraZeneca) was possibly a bad idea. Reason being that you will have become sensitised to that - not just the Covid-19-alike bits. Hence more likely to suffer side effects. True or not, my instinct suggests a...

I think you have missed the starting point of my response. Imagine a multi-member constituency with four seats. And, as it happened, four different parties ended up with vote % like this: A = 40%, B = 30%, C = 20%, D = 10%. Other parties had been eliminated and votes re-assigned by some sort...

That is, indeed, one of the problems that PR has to address - how do you handle loss of one member (however that occurs) in a multi-member constituency? But to directly answer your question, single transferable vote is one possibility.
