Yep, the Cyclamatic maintains on throttle around 16.5 Mph on the flat, with no head or tail wind. With the shunt mod, although no faster, will pick up to this speed more readily :D

A reviewer of the Bighit on the powerpedals website, also confirms the speed increase by removing the magnet. Just out of interest, if the motor drives the main crank, does that mean that the pedals spin when power is applied?

Do you think you disturbed the battery's wiring when you unwrapped it ready for the casing fit? When i've taken my battery pack out of the aluminium casing, it is easy for the individual banks of batteries to twist. Therefore plenty of care must be taken.

Penlost, I pondered over changing the 24v battery to a similar 36v one, but sense got the better of me. The battery casing is fairly unique to the Cyclamatic, so if the £200 upgraded battery didn't work, then I would be left with a battery that would be difficult to integrate into another build...

Thanks NRG, I took out the coat hanger link and added a bit of solder up one side of the shunt. Torque is up from standard and the noise from the motor is no louder than standard. Took is out for a ride today and it was still pulling strong at 12 miles with the battery indicator showing half...

I'm guessing a well designed motor will iron out these undesirable factors, whereas the Cyclamatic appears to be at the knock em out on the cheap end of the market. Still a great entry level bike though ;)
