Help! New e-bike for 16 mile commute

I think any of the bikes mentioned would be able to cope with your weight on those hills with you adding some pedalling effort.

Help! New e-bike for 16 mile commute

A pedelec sounds ideal for your commute Can I ask how heavy you are ? Also what sort of gradient are the hills ? - the "predictor" tool on the Woosh bikes website is useful eg Possibly https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?santana3 or https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?camino

Help! 1st E-Bike, need help choosing

One thing to bear in mind is a bike with a full battery will be more powerful than one with a nearly empty battery - I always have as big a battery as possible, I think it is worth the extra weight and I believe the battery is likely to last longer

Help! 1st E-Bike, need help choosing

At a guess, for someone who is 75kg, I would expect it to cope with at least 15% hills with you pedalling, maybe steeper. Mapometer gives % gradients

Help! 1st E-Bike, need help choosing

There's also the wayfarer, which I believe has a more powerful motor https://wisperbikes.com/shop/e-bikes/crossbar-ebikes/wayfarer-h9-hub-drive-crossbar/ @Wisper Bikes may be able to help you with your questions

Help! 1st E-Bike, need help choosing

There's lots of beautiful mid drive mountain bikes in bike shops but the issue I see is that they use very proprietary technology (and batteries!) and potentially get very expensive / impossible to fix if you have any problems outside the warranty period. Woosh and Wisper really try to keep...

You can get a DVLA registered throttle with one of these https://wisperbikes.com/shop/e-bikes/crossbar-ebikes/tailwind-trail-crossbar/ Or a bit cheaper but very powerful (I think you can use the throttle but you need to peddle first) https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?gran-camino

Hallo All. I hope you are all well and safe.

Yes, I was thinking that if the original broken ebike had a hub motor, just treat it as a donor bike, l guess not really possible with a mid drive

    Checking Multimeter Calibration at Home

My super cheapo Rolson multimeter from Halfords seems to match expected voltages on the 500V range 54.6V on a fully charged 48V battery and 42.0V on a fully charged Wisper 36V battery (the Woosh 36V battery is 41.5V which I think is what the SANS charger charges to)

UK legal, lightweight rear hub kit?

I have found Woosh's XF08C very powerful, especially on hills https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/woosh-xf08c-cassette-with-rear-rack-battery.45406/

How do speed based PAS levels work ?

So I understand that controllers can have speed based PAS levels or power based PAS levels. For the speed based PAS levels are these controllers just applying maximum power at PAS level 1 until you hit the PAS level 1 max assist speed ? I wondered if it was done on Voltage - so PAS level one...

UK legal, lightweight rear hub kit?

I think that is standardish behaviour from cheap, speed based controllers. I set my Bafang rear hub ( G020 / SWX02) kit to 9 PAS levels. The lower power levels kick in after a small amount of pedal rotation and do help you accelerate, but on the flat, I am cycling using my own pedalling...

Has anyone heard of or tried Toseven mid drive?

To be honest it's not something I've thought about before - I know there are rules around duty and import of goods bought abroad, I know a lot of Chinese suppliers have stock in the UK and EU and different rules apply - how would we recognise suppliers who dodge VAT and/or import duty ?

UK legal, lightweight rear hub kit?

I think @Woosh do some lightweight saddlebag batteries too - I think there is a 36V 10Ah (360 Wh) one - best talk to Tony
