Old Carrera Vulcan Bafang rear hub conversion

Yes - this was all the wires that come out the controller, especially the battery xt90 connecter - there wasn't room / battery wire connector wasn't long enough to stuff it all into the controller box, so I cut the end off an old tennis racquet cover and taped that on to the bottom of the...

Old Carrera Vulcan Bafang rear hub conversion

I was just thinking the same, I'm sure I saw it on the instructions somewhere to install it on the left, will correct it when I fit the new handlebars. The cockpit is getting a bit crowded, I can see why you go for combined shifters/ brake levers. I was also wondering if I could go to one cog...

Old Carrera Vulcan Bafang rear hub conversion

Thanks - yes - I tried to re-use some mountain bike mud guards (that I think were intended for a 29er) that I bought for another bike years ago - which got in the way of the rear rack normal mounting points. I'll add some normal mudguards to the list !

Old Carrera Vulcan Bafang rear hub conversion

OK - this is how far I've got with it It's a bit Heath Robinson in places, but it all works - please let me know any glaring mistakes ! Started off with the donor Carrera Vulcan £75, the SWX02 kit without battery was £252 - I'm just using the battery for my mountain bike that came with the...

Build spec by committee, might that include you?

Is it not identical to the RM G020.500 - they just stamp 500 on it when they are marketing it as part of a 500w kit ? (with 48v battery rather than 36V) e.g. here (I just ordered the kit and it had RM G020.500 stamped on it , without the battery for a second hand 26" wheel Carrera Vulcan - it...

    Battery advice

48V 19.2AH, LG21700 Cell, suitable for 250W 350W 500W 750W 1000W 1500W motor. Max Constant Discharge Current: 45A, Charger: 54.6V 3A. Discharge connector: XT60(Female &Male) @Woosh can probably give you better advice but I think the LG 21700 cells are good (if the battery is really using them)...

Wanted Request for help and advice pretty please.

Or another alternative would be to fit something like https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?hubkits#dwg22c-48v-kit to your own donor bike - preferably something with hydraulic disk brakes and enough room in the frame to fit the battery - there seems like plenty of second hand bikes on marketplace...

Wanted Request for help and advice pretty please.

Maybe one of these https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?gran-camino it says minimum height 5'8" but maybe @Woosh could fit a seat or something so it fits 5'6" ? Or they could possibly fit the same motor and kit to a small framed donor bike and build it for you

Ammo case (but REMOVE THE SEALS) - seems like a good option in all the tests I have been able to find - LIPO bags don't seem up to ebike batteries

Fitting a whoosh conversion kit to a Thorn Raven

I'll be interested in what range you get. I have the rear hub version of that motor and also the 20Ah 36v battery. Using a multi meter to measure the voltage drop after a 43 mile trip (about 1/3 usable left), I estimated the range from full was around 65 miles on assist levels 4 and 5 on...
