Well, I have just gone and done it - Kalkhoff BS10 ordered today

The legislation as it currently stands would be a good place to start. When I bought my bike there was an official understanding from a government agency that it was acceptable for road use. There is no such understanding for the bikes we are talking about in this thread. The two situations...

Well, I have just gone and done it - Kalkhoff BS10 ordered today

What you need to do is deceive the operators of the scheme by telling lies. You tell them that you are buying a bicycle when in fact your intention is to buy a moped which you will ride uninsured, unregistered and all of the other things. You do need to be comfortable with lies, fraud...

    Now we're talking.

Fantastic! Best piece of news I've heard in a long time. Can't wait.

    My new bike

I had the rest of the country in mind. I can see why they would be popular and advantageous in London with people squeezing into flats and being crammed onto trains and having limited storage options.

    My new bike

I'm not sure that this is the case. I can understand the appeal of small wheeled compact bikes for people who need to travel by train or other forms of transport as part of their commute, but that isn't everyone. The small wheeled compact bikes come with disadvantages when compared to a full...

Hi quilly21, Please excuse the intrusion. I have an original 24 Volt Panasonic charger which came with my Kalkhoff Pro Connect. I bought an extra charger with the bike thinking that it would be useful to keep at work. I think I paid in the region of £120 for it, but have seldom used the...

Wiring up lights to ebike battery - any tips?

I had a set of lights running off two DC-DC converters (Click Here). I used two because I have a lot of lighting on the front, too much lighting on the front, so much lighting on the front that it upsets some people and they became agitated and excitable. I took the feed directly off the battery...

    3d printers

I think that they are very good for printing chess pieces..............in green. No doubt as the technology develops, different coloured chess pieces will become a real possibility.

    Pro Connect Problems (Dying?)

This probably isn't of great interest to newer forum members because it relates to an old bike, but thanks to forum member Gringo for letting me try his battery on my bike and vice versa, I have established that the Panasonic crank motor on my Pro Connect is knackered. It had done just over...

What Marathon Tyre do I need ?

I use a MTB on the road and find that Big Apples work very well. I think the MPs are a bit on the narrow side for MTB rims. The Big Apples are more of an MTB tyre with a shallow road tread and roll very well.

Hi enthusiast Whereabouts are you located? I have a suspected faulty battery on my Pro Connect. If you are close enough for me to try the battery on my bike, and it works, I'll have it. I am in Derbyshire.

Aftermarket non-genuine Bosch battery received for testing

Hi El Champiero, I wondered, how are you getting on with this battery? Have you put it on a bike? Is it any good?

    Panasonic Batteries 24v 17.5 Ah £110

It seems to be the shipping costs which add to the total price of the battery. When I looked into it, Battery + Shipping wasn't far off that eBay price which you have linked to above. Add on possible tax and the two prices are even closer. Both options carry a risk in terms of customer service...

    Best tyres for commuting

I use Marathon Plus on my electric bike and they are excellent for that application. I also commute on an unassisted MTB (29er) and find Scwalbe Big Apple tyres work very well on that bike. It rolls nicely with little resistance and makes it a reasonably fast bike. The Big Apples work well on...

    Pro Connect Problems (Dying?)

If the battery isn't the cause of the problem, it will almost certainly mean that it's the motor which is faulty, and that can't be repaired. I know that my battery is on borrowed time, so a new motor and battery is going to be in the region of £1000. I don't think the bike is worth spending...

    Pro Connect Problems (Dying?)

Ideally I would like to put a known working battery on my bike and see if the problem goes away, thus identifying either my very old battery or the motor as being the cause. Will your tester give a definitive answer regarding the battery? In no way do I wish to question you abilities, I'm sure...

    Pro Connect Problems (Dying?)

Thanks Martin and d8veh for your kind offers of help. flecc, I have ridden the bike to complete battery cut out a few times, and I remember now, the assist level does drop substantially 2 to 3 miles before total depletion. The level of assist that I am currently getting is much less than the...

    Pro Connect Problems (Dying?)

Directly off the battery. The battery plugs into a set of pins, the pins have wires coming off the back which go to the motor. I have taken a feed to the DC-DC off those pins, in parrallel with the motor feed I suppose. I suspect the controller, I don't think that the battery voltage is...
