I think these brakes do require greasing. At least the Nexus Inter hub brake that I had on an Agattu did. There is a special Shimano grease for the job which comes at a special price. I like these hub brakes for the back wheel, but wouldn't want one on the front. They are very low maintenance...

You are not mistaken. My June 2008 Panasonic battery is still working and is perfectly adequate for a 20 mile ride. The battery is on a Kalkhoff Pro-Connect and has actually outlasted the motor. I briefly owned a 2008 Agattu and the battery on that was even better, easily doing 25 miles.

The connectors are under the cowling, left hand side if I remembercorrectly. They are usually inside a tough plastic bag which has then been pushed inside the frame.
