    Lightweight trailer

cwah, why do you come on this forum and ask for advice? Just about everyone has warned you that small wheels, such as the ones to be found on that ridiculous garden trolley, are to be avoided for reasons of safety and drag. But still you persist. And how do you think that the seller of the...

    Lightweight trailer

Before going any further with this project, you need to understand that you require a trailer, not a hand cart, sack trolley or garden trolley on wheels. If you carry on down this route, you are going to have an accident and hurt yourself. The eBay trailer that has been suggested looks to be a...

    Lightweight trailer

No. I've got one of those folding sack trolleys. I would say that the wheels are too small and not free running enough to use in the way that you intend.

    Which would you go for

Of the two, the MHYBRID purely because it is based on the Bosch system which seems to be establishing itself well and is likely to be around and supported for some time to come. If the Bosch system continues to gain popularity, alternative, larger capacity, or cheaper batteries may start to...

HaiBike eQ Xduro FS - a note of caution

Good & helpful advice eddieo, but why aren't the people he bought the bike off doing this? The thing cost a small fortune and an important bit broke off months after taking delivery and they have neglected their responsibility to fix it for the past six months. Not good enough.

HaiBike eQ Xduro FS - a note of caution

That really isn't good enough. After all, we are constantly being reminded that a major part of the reason that these, "high end" bikes are so expensive is the customer support that we receive. If an important component on your £3000 bike broke after just two months of ownership and it's still...

I'm no engineer but plain ol common sense says this is madness.....

It will never be viable. A failure within any part of a system supplying power to or controlling the fans would spell disaster. The bike would become uncontrollable and crash. Aircraft have a huge amount of redundancy built into the vital systems. I doubt that this has any. Unlike a helicopter...

    Lifespan of an ebike?

This is a tricky question and I don't know the answer. Would I buy a new Panasonic motor at £400 - £500 for my four year old Pro Connect? :- I honestly don't know. Would I buy a new Alfine gear unit? :- Maybe, but what if the motor gave up? I'd just have to decide when / if it happens.

Australian Market Opens Up with New Legislation

I bet you cut quite a dashing lantern-jawed figure as you fearlessly take on and tame the wattage of your battery-moped. Do impressionable old ladies cruising on mobility scooters blush and try to seduce you with fluffy Werther's Originals from the depths of their hand-bags? You should wear a...

    Lidl offers

Lidl and Aldi tools are very generally good. I've had quite a few of their power tools and have been very impressed. The SDS drill which Aldi were selling a few months back being one of my favourites. Man v 9" thick wall :- no problem.

Bike reviews - Minimum post count

I don't think that there is an effective way to stop someone coming on here, making a few posts to bump up their count and then going on to promote a product in which they have a commercial interest. By the very nature of this type of Internet forum, this sort of activity is always going to...

Any Specs for the New BMW Pedelec?

Well what did you expect? You don't honestly think that Lord Nobody and his select bunch of, Olympic party revellers are in the least bit concerned about dirty handed, oily British Men and Women who make things for a living, do you?

Dawes Boost City Ladies Electric Bike 2012

Frank Its great that you contribute and I have seen other posts from you saying things like: "I can recommend ......." But on what basis can you recommend a particular bike? Take the Promo Step Through above for instance. Have you owned one? Lived with it? Do you know all of its quirks, good...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Is there a problem with using an Alfine hub gear unit in conjunction with a crank drive? Unless I've missed the reports somewhere, I'm not aware of a disproportionately large number of failures.

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

I have used both derailleurs and hub gears. The derailleurs were on an unpowered bike and the Shimano Alfine 8 speed is on my crank driven hub motored bike. For daily use on a utility type commuting bike where slightly less efficiency is of no significance, hub gears are by far the better...

    Right crunch time (offroad pedelec)

It is because KTM are more at ease deceiving their potential customers than Haibike. In fact, Haibike are probably near the truth with their figure, which is commendable and a definite positive point in the buying decision.

    Right crunch time (offroad pedelec)

I like the Haibike for the upside down motor, but I don't like derailleur gears. If the Haibike was fitted with an Alfine hub gear, it would be perfect. I see that the KTM Macina 29 uses the 11 speed Alfine, so that would probably be my choice of KTM, not the 29r.

    High Vis Vest

Does anyone have a recommendation for a high vis cycling vest? I would like something which is lightweight, suitable for daytime warm weather cycling and fastens with a zip. Ideally I would prefer orange. Thanks.

    Zedfactory Foreverzed Electric Bike system

It's a wonderful concept and it would be nice to see rotund, jolly faced policemen in tunics watching over the charging points as fellow commuters exchange casual pleasantries in the warm afternoon sun. Unfortunately, I know things that I wish I didn't know and so I have to say, it will never...
