Advice on bike for hillsome commute

I'd say all of the above. It's not difficult to point out where a Kalkhoff is better built, better welded and better equipped.

    General e-bike function questions

The way to tackle steep hills with Chinese ebikes is to use the throttle. The assist level controls the maximum speed you'll get with pedalling, the throttle overriddes that assist level. Keep to assist level 1 and use the throttle. After you get used to controlling the bike with the throttle...

    death of an alien?

102WH for 5 miles is just too close to call. I was hoping for something like 120WH or 80WH. If the consumption has suddenly risen, your motor is no longer as efficient as it once was. Replacing the motor would have fixed the problem. I would carry on using the motor for and keep watching the...

    Couple of bargains have appeared...

difficult to say. Marcin bought one of those and did a thorough review here. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/silent-force-sfg-0103-%C2%A3500.17065/#post-238396 If the ones that are on sale now are of the same batch, it's not a good deal. The B&R bikes still show 'reserve not met' - we...

    Computer Woes

who are you to say do not trust google top search results? and why should I trust soft2secure.com? soft2secure.com has 143 pages in google index while symantec.com has 1,4 millions. When it comes to computer security I would not download anything from a site unless the website has at least...

KD, in case you haven't noticed, the Gallego has EN15194 certificate and built not far from where you get your bikes.

    What to buy!

if you have an e-bike specialist near you, visit their premises. You don't have to ask any question if you don't want to be ''sold' to. Just see what they have to offer. If you see something that you like, then start asking question.

Add suspensions or sell my hybrid/road bike?

A quality second hand bike is much more cost effective than a £200 bike from Halfords. At the speed you want to ride, you need a very strong frame and fork. I'd say a DH bike is needed for riding at over 30mph.

    Choices, Choices!!

Retail, go see woosh in Southend, where they have the Gallego, not Cambridge. I don't know what problem d8veh found when he tried it. The only problem I found with the Gallego is speed. Maximum speed is around 13-14 miles while all the other bigger wheeled bikes are faster. I took the Gallego up...

    Choices, Choices!!

I have ridden both the Brompton and the Gallego. One is hard work, the other isn't. Ordinary e-folders don't have rack wheels but the Gallego does. On the rare occasions when you need to take your bike into the underground, you don't have to carry the bike, just hold the saddle and push it on...

    Choices, Choices!!

I have, that's why I recommend it. There is a small latch just behind the seat post, in front of the neoprene bung. Flick the latch forward to unlock the bung then lift the saddle. The rear of the bike folds down, you can then wheel the bike around on its two rear wheels like a wheeled luggage...

    Choices, Choices!!

the woosh Gallego seems to fit all your requirements: http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?gallego it semi-folds in a couple of seconds and folds very compactly, small enough to go under a desk. lightweight and does not look electric.

    Neophyte looking to learn.

    Type Approval

there is ambiguity in this paragraph: 8.Because of the particular benefits for eldely and disabled users, pedal cycles providing electrical assistance without initial use of the pedals usually called "twist and goes" would continue to be covered by these regulations. For use on roads in GB...
