Is testing the remaining capacity of a battery really possible?

it may just as well be a modified volt meter, extrapolating voltage vs state of charge, between low and high.

    Correct battery?

that's the correct description 16S2P 3.2V 10AH LiFePO4 Very nice. How much did you pay for it? here is the link: http://bote-power.en.alibaba.com/productshowimg/1007636177-220014535/lifepo4_battery_48v_20ah.html

battery range /power seems to have decreased

on the contrary. Room temperature keeps your battery dry in winter and right in the middle of optimal condition. This chart sums up the best operating temperature for your battery: source: http://www.mpoweruk.com/lithium_failures.htm

    batteries and the ah con

this is a problem affecting mostly small lipo packs without BMS. If you keep within 2C, that's what most BMSes do by default anyway, you'll get 90%-95% of your battery's capacity.

    batteries and the ah con

not that insignificant. his cells are similar to the blue plot (UR18650F, 2600mAH). If he rides slowly, more than hour, he gets 95%. If he flattens his battery in less than 20 minutes, then the drop will be huge. source: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/calculating_the_battery_runtime

    Warranty

are you saying that your dealer expects a new wheel from China after their lunar new year holiday? that can't be right, the staff come back at the beginning at March, even if they send you a new wheel, the boat takes at least 6 weeks to arrrive, you won't see something from China until early...

    Lipo SLA boost?

48V at low speed on a direct drive? - not a good idea. At relatively low speed (under 200 RPM for 48V DD motors), the motor efficiency is below 50%, most of your battery power is going to turn into heat. DD motors shine only when you can push 20A or more into the copper.

Hydrogen fuel cell car going on sale in Britain

didn't they jump the gun a little bit? they should have concentrated their marketing effort to lower the cost of plugin hybrids and waited for their wider adoption. Plugin hybrids do not require any additional infrastructure while still gain in MPG and lessen pollution.

battery range /power seems to have decreased

the battery's electronics needs to be kept dry. In a garage, the humidity in the air will condense inside the casing damaging the electronics and increases leakage current. We are talking about a few mA here, but the effect can be devastating on the closing up of the tiny pores in the cells...

Convert a Kona Cinder Cone to an electric bike; please help!

the low speed option is usually better for hillclimbing. For £1000, speed + hill climbing, 48V 500W BPM with 48V 15AH battery and 25A controller. It's difficult to find a battery with that much capacity that'll go on the downtube. Ask member mechaniker to quote, I reckon it's about £700...
