Big fella - needs a big bike

the forum is split 50/50 on crank versus hub, which one is better? I prefer crank driven bikes. The Sirocco CDL motor gives about two third of the power of a 180mm BPM. The Woosh crank driven Krieger has as much grunt as the BPM but out of stock until June.

Big fella - needs a big bike

don't get the Sirocco CDL, get the Big Bear. The Sirocco CDL still has the original TCM motor, not as grunty as the BPM on the Big Bear, posssibly not grunty enough for your weight. Woosh have upgraded their TCM motor to a bigger one but only on the Krieger. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?bigbear

    Researching for leccie bike

Schwalbe Range Cruiser may be a better choice. It's between normal road tyres and the MP+, not as heavy nor as tough as MP+, it lets you ride on gravelled tracks where the MP+ may be unforgiving and its kevlar band gives you a degree of puncture proofing too. They are also cheaper...

    rake angle vs handling

@Martin: I don't think the handlebars position is responsible for what the OP describes as 'like I'm riding on the ridge of a roof and it keeps wanting to pull either left or right', his problem is instability, not pulling or pushing to steer - the trail of the bike determines the stability when...

    Yet another new battery technology.

it looks like Aluminium Ion battery, aluminium + Lithium ion. Very interesting. Fast charging may not be so good when the capacity is scaled up to make it commercially viable.

    Best bike for hills?

most bikes from woosh are delivered fully built except the pedals and handlebars. Ring and ask them to confirm.

    Best bike for hills?

IMHO, the Krieger is the best bike for the OP. It's got the right size and shape. Its motor is just as powerful as the BPM. It can use gears to climb steeper hills than the BPM can (on throttle, albeit slowly) and have a decent sized battery. The only alternative is to do a conversion with 500W...

    Best bike for hills?

the Woosh Zephyr-B is a 26 inch wheel bike with BPM motor and hydraulic brakes, inexpensive, lightweight and pleasant to cycle unpowered. it also folds. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?zephyr-b

    Best bike for hills?

The choice of motor depends very much on how you think of gears. If you don't like to bother with them, then hub motors like the BPM give you a more relaxed ride and is definitely the way to go. Conversely, if you like to optimize your ride, then crank drive offers you much more while retaining...

Decent mountain bike frame for front hub motor.

but did you try that cheap Cannondale though? I found that vibration usually comes from poor quality fork and headset.

I could not find any mention of the throttle in that document, so does it mean that the use of the throttle continue to be permitted?

something like this £375 Boardman would be good for a rear hub conversion: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boardman-Team-R-Mountain-Bike-/291423939719

Decent mountain bike frame for front hub motor.

plenty of low end Chinese components: Suntour XCT fork, Promax brakes, Acera derailleur, square tappered bottom bracket, KMC Z chain. Not an upgrade from your previous Sirocco CD beside the seat post, headset and rims.

    New Chinese crank drive bicycles

you are right, that's sloppiness from me, all I knew about this frame was that they are making samples at the time. I'll ask them after the Canton fair.
