Time was, investigative journalism (especially if done well) could have a major impact. Nowadays, I suspect it is a miracle if people entirely miss such programs because are not already on Netflix, Sky, or whatever - or almost immediately reach for the zapper. Nonetheless, it is right that...

I think that was what was meant by "more flexible" - and I agree that is a good and proper aim - so long as no-one gets shafted by being a volunteer.

The question as to whether the common cold helps in fighting Covid-19 is addressed, again, here: “We have now proven that, in some people, pre-existing T cell memory against common cold coronaviruses can cross-recognize SARS-CoV-2, down to the exact molecular structures,” Weiskopf says. “This...

I agree about Gove. But wasn't the point that Gove more or less told us we are sick of experts and inherently know best because, well, we are British! Therefore, when the government turns round and tells us that experts are to be believed, they are being deeply and cynically hypocritical.

A USA perspective on the Moderna vaccine - and stretching it out: Initial supplies of COVID-19 vaccines are obviously limited, even as drugmakers ramp up production, so governments are looking for ways to stretch their stocks. For Moderna’s mRNA-1273, that could mean reducing the dosing...

From personal experience, I'll not rely on the experts. But nor would I rely on amateur commentary. The number of papers I have read which were prepared by world-class experts, passed referees, published - yet contain egregious errors, is horrific. Worse, some remain among the most quoted and...

That was only an interim objective. Having part of the population protected might result in more transmission as those who are protected feel less need to isolate themselves. If the vaccine actually reduces transmission, then it might be better now to target 100% single dose - or even 100%...

If they gave us half a dose, would that enable even more to get their first dose more quickly? (A degree of flippancy given the trial data - but nonetheless, a genuine question/thought.)
