    Brexit, for once some facts.

I accept there is the possibility of negative outcomes from vaccination. Whether in the short-term or long, whether fatal or merely temporarily unpleasant. And that none of us really know what the outcomes will be. For us as individuals or for us as the world population. But, at present, the...

Bolics. It is Imbolc. :) Interestingly, a search tells me that it lasts into the evening of February 2.

I still question the wisdom in the first place. If it were, as some sources suggested, actually advantageous to have a longer gap, why would we be planning on reversing down to manufacturer recommended gaps? No - I am NOT saying it was wrong. I am saying it is still not proved to have been right.

BERLIN (AP) — Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has agreed to supply 9 million additional doses of its coronavirus vaccine to the European Union during the first quarter, the bloc’s executive arm said Sunday. The new target of 40 million doses by the end of March is still only half what the...

I suspect some might hope for the poacher-turned-gamekeeper effect but I don't believe it in this case. Once faeces, always faeces.

How much immunity have you built after six weeks? With only one vaccination. Still unknown, isn't it?

I don't think you posted: Only 0.04% of people caught virus a week after second dose and 0.002% needed hospital treatment

If Israel is giving second dose after 3/4 weeks, I wonder what has happened to those not given the second dose for some reason? How much of the effect is due to longer time since first dose, and how much directly due to the second dose? Israel Covid vaccine data shows extremely low rate of...

I'd want to know a bit more. How long between first vaccine and getting Covid-19? (Even negative time if they were already infected.) If 834 is a big reduction in absolute number, that would be good. And how long after second did any get infected and critically ill? How many got infected but...

Out of date. Inherently. The figures for Wales are delayed - only verified figures are reported. So possibly a few days behind. Whereas England seems to add numbers as soon as they think another vaccine has been injected.

But these things should be thought about when there is no imminent threat. Good old emergency preparedness. Yes - good that things started happening. But should a lot of it already have been in hand and the relevant plans launched?

That question requires somewhat more of an answer than the assertion there is a global shortage. One of the reasons is insufficient glass suitable for making vials. Another is insufficient fill and finish capacity even were the glass available. I believe all the glass comes from outside the UK...

Johnson keeps saying he is responsible - with little to no evidence that he is acting as if that were the case. Then we see something which is more clearly directly under his control: DVLA managers 'failed to understand severity' of deadly Covid outbreak Health board briefing details multiple...

Doesn't that depend on what is actually meant by "fully" and "possibly"? If "fully" means 100% are not going to get Covid-19, and "possibly" means 50%, then a simplistic arithmetic view suggests the number dying would be similar whichever was chosen. But if they mean 90% and 70%, that would...

True - apologies, should have expressly said that. I have have had it installed and been reporting from pretty much the start of the app.

At present I am still in the position of hoping that is the case - and not yet being 100% convinced. The partial evidence we have (as in only part of it rather than not being impartial) suggests we are better off, but falls short of absolute proof.

I did actually remember that - but put it in for the benefit of anyone else. I don't drink a lot - we usually split one bottle of wine a week over two days. And that is it.

There are other possibilities. For example, get a first Pfizer injection, have a reaction (rash and feeling poorly), advised not to get the second dose. Also advised should not get an AstraZeneca vaccination. Ends up in an indeterminate state of being partially vaccinated.
