    A salutary tale

And the reasons why i've spent countless hours doing extensive research before parting with my hard earned cash. Unfortunately a lot of Chinese products are a law unto themselves :(

    A salutary tale

I honestly don't think it any particular fault of the company. Yes, the pedelec functions for far longer than is safely or comfortably neccessary, but the same happens with my mass produced Cyclamatic. The only difference here is that it is very low powered, so when the power is held after...

    Bafang geared hub motors

Firstly let me welcome you to the forums. You will get all the answers you need from a bunch of very knowledgeable riders. As for info on the Bafang range of hub motors, for some unknown reason they don't give away much on their website. In fact their main website is very poor. But we can...

    Bafang geared hub motors

The general consensus on Bafang geared hub motors is that the nylon gears wear out fairly quickly. What kind of mileage are we looking at before an overhaul is needed? I realise that it does depend on the usage of the motor, but are we talking monster miles or a pitiful amount?

Brake disc compatibility with front hub motor

Thanks Caph, think i'm gonna stick with an all-round V brake system to avoid disappointment on my first build ;)

Brake disc compatibility with front hub motor

Unfortunately, the bike i was going to get has been discontinued, i'll get back to you when i've found another one ;)

Brake disc compatibility with front hub motor

The bike i'm buying already has a front disc brake system. So you're saying that fitting a front hub motor to this should be ok?

Brake disc compatibility with front hub motor

Oh dear, this doesn't sound promising. Might have to go the rear hub route and have a balls ache with getting the gears to work instead

    How cool is this battery!!!

Sorry if this is old stuff, but i'm still gobsmacked on how cool this battery is. Full kits look good too and fairly reasonably priced ;) E-Bike Battery Reasonably priced until you add import taxes of course :(

Brake disc compatibility with front hub motor

I'd like some feedback from anyone who has fitted a front hub motor to a bike with disc brakes. Do discs have a standard fitting system to the hub whether motorised or standard wheel? Does the calliper have any scope for adjustment across the axis if the alignment is slightly out? Anything i...

    Torque talk

Could somebody explain exactly what a torque arm is in relation to the front wheel/forks. Also, when is one likely to be needed i.e. hub motors of more than a certain power?

Has anyone had any experience with Dirty bikes from the manufacture Dawes? Are they like the Claud Butler of the Falcon world, or am i barking up the wrong tree? Apologies to those reading this thread who thought it might contain links to unsavoury material :p

Adjusted my brakes - now they are even worse! Help

B and Q will probably sell mini kits with multi hex attachments and rachet and/or screwdriver thingy. Sorry couldn't think of correct word.

Adjusted my brakes - now they are even worse! Help

The one in the picture does look like a hex or star headed type. Don't try with a cross headed screwdriver if it's not the right one, you'll knack the screw head. Then you'll be bleep bleep bleep

Adjusted my brakes - now they are even worse! Help

I should imagine the spring tension on the one with the missing screw will be too weak to adjust properly. Halfords or LBS will be able to help you out :) If you can't just get the single screw then they're not expensive to replace the whole caliper. You do have a Wisper, you must be loaded.

Adjusted my brakes - now they are even worse! Help

I find on mine that i have to screw it nearly all the way in for a significant amount of spring resistance to be felt. Although i only have Shimanos at the cheaper end of the scale, so yours will probably be better quality.
