    Cyclamatic controller

For anyone who is interested, i opened up my Cyclamatic controller box today and spied a manufacturers stamp on the circuit board: Nanjing Lishui Electronics Research Institute Co.,Ltd. www.lsdzs.com Absolutely no chance of fitting anything bigger inside the controller housing though, it's as...

The Sunlova battery beat me! Woohoo!

Good to hear the battery is up to the job. What's the model series of the 8Fun motor? Also, is it any good up the hills and could the throttle be easily replaced with a different type?

    Twist or thumb throttle?

''Mobility scooters have them'' ''I think I'd prefer my half size twist throttle'' ''I've used one, it stuck open, I don't like them much anyway, they don't feel right to me, but there again I'm used to a motorcycle'' Case closed, half throttle it is :)

Surely someone has used a thumb throttle :(

    Twist or thumb throttle?

Having used a twist half throttle (not full length) for a while now, i like the way i can hold it at a particular position by gripping the non moving part of the throttle. It still allows fully controllability of the bike on part throttle. Anyone who has used one will know what i mean ;) I've...

    SCiB Battery

This link might give you an insight into charging factors: How Will Toshiba's SCiB Battery Technology Impact EVs? - DIY Electric Car Forums z0mb13e is right about the weight though. I think this will be the major issue against using this type of battery. 6000 cycles, now where did i put my gym...

    Sorry :(

Very good point, if it was a better technology, i think we would have heard a lot more about it. Looks like LiFEP04 is leading the way for the future ;)

    Sorry :(

I'll drop them a line and ask for details. Would be strange them charging more for older technology.

    Sorry :(

It's just that i was browsing on Conhis Motor's website (shock horror) and i noticed that the LiMn2O4, on a like for like basis with LiFeP04, were a little more expensive

    Sorry :(

Thanks flecc, i thought with the lack of info on it that LiMn2O4 was very new technology. I'll steer well clear :)

    Sorry :(

I did do a search on this site for information on LiMn2O4, but didn't find anything  In comparison with LiFeP04, cost not a factor, which one is the best for electric bike applications?

    Brake lever cut off questions

I think it's all about motor controllability. If you have a bike system, like Old Timer described, that has a little bit too much kick when the pedelec operates at slow speed, then yes you need to be able to tame this with brake cut offs. If the pedelec and controller is well designed, then it...

    Brake lever cut off questions

I ride mostly on bike paths when i can, so i'll probably do without the brake levers and pedelec on my project. As for the situation you describe, i get that with my current Cyclamatic. I've learnt to stop pedalling moments before any slow sharp turns and either let it coast round or use the...

    Brake lever cut off questions

In theory yes. I remember years ago i built a record player turntable using a reed switch/magnetic drive. It was only an experiment and produced excruciating amounts of audible wow and flutter  Reed switches are capable of handling fairly high voltages, but not sure they can handle large...

    Brake lever cut off questions

So i can just omit the cut off levers without any mods to the controller?
