There isn't much you can change, so I would just continue with plan A.

BTW, to upload firmware you will need: 1) a USB dongle. Mine has STM32 chip in it. 2) a 4-pin programming connector on the controller. 3) the program to write the JYT file. It's not all straightforward if you are not OEM.
