nano brompton or kalkoff pro connect? pl help me choose...

Your list of pros and cons is sensible and reflects the reality of the situation. Really, only you can decide how much weight to attach to each element of your list once you have done that, you will have your answer. The bikes are more or less at opposite ends of the type of usage spectrum...

Wisper DaaHub arrives - what a bike!

From the photograph, I couldn't say for sure if eddieo's battery is lower than a rear rack mounted one. As you mention, if it is lower that will give it an advantage. You have a point regarding pitch and yaw, pitch in particular. Thinking about it a bit more, if the battery is hung out over...

Wisper DaaHub arrives - what a bike!

Battery Placebo Effect I'm struggling to see how this oddly positioned battery on eddieos bike can improve the handling. In terms of the bike's handling, there are essentially three axis of freedom, pitch, roll and yaw. As far as a bicycle's handling is concerned, pitch and yaw, contribute very...

Wisper DaaHub arrives - what a bike!

Speaking purely for myself, no. I like Marmite. If I were to liken it to a food, it would be fried calf brains for me. :( But you could easily make it into Marmite :)

Wisper DaaHub arrives - what a bike!

I don't like knocking someones new pride and joy. There is nothing worse than having something new and then people telling you that they don't like it. But, reluctantly, there are certain things which need saying: The bike looks very nice and the motor arrangement is stealthy, which will appeal...

    My new Bosch KTM Bike!

No. I like it too. Am I correct in thinking that there is a rack mounted battery option with the Bosch system?

    Tweets

I'd not noticed the tweets tab until vhfman mentioned it, but on me screen it's just a little vertical tab in the top left hand corner of the screen. I use Safari, so it seems that the annoyance factor is browser related.

**WINNER!** Barclays TakeOneSmallStep.co.uk (Stephen Britt) - Power Assistance Kits

Well that's good to know. The theory is very clever in it's simplicity, and I hope Stephen continues to make good progress with his invention.

    Upping The Power

I am with you on this lemmy, I like the power to fall away and 10 MPH is just about the right speed for this to happen. It's enough to get the bike rolling and at 10 MPH you don't really notice the power start to reduce. At 14 MPH, I think the power reduction effect would be more noticeable due...

**WINNER!** Barclays TakeOneSmallStep.co.uk (Stephen Britt) - Power Assistance Kits

How did the pedals perform Russ? I couldn't find anything regarding this in the article. I still have doubts that the system will work. Hopefully I am wrong, but it would be nice to know how they worked in reality.

Maybe the Bosch bike for me.....

I'm sure that they marketed a modern looking bike, similar in style to the Pro Connect with the same crank drive. I recall seeing one being used in the paddock by the Toyota F1 team 2 + years ago. I've quickly tried to locate it using Google but no luck. Must have been a dream.

Maybe the Bosch bike for me.....

Panasonic marketed a bike which utilised their crank drive system a while back. I don't know what happened to it or if it is still available.

Raleigh dover -3 speed or 8?

The 8 speed has a wider spread of ratios, 306% I believe. I'm not sure what the ratio range is on the 3 speed hub, bit it will be narrower. The narrower range may not be a problem, depending on your intended use. If the terrain is widely varying between flat, hilly, very hilly and climbing the...

Maybe the Bosch bike for me.....

We have debated this before. Some people feel uncomfortable being seen on an electric bike for a variety of reasons. Others, me included, don't care what other people think, they are missing out because of their ignorance. Electric bikes are versatile and fill a wide range of needs. I use mine...
