    Bike sales in January?

Kudos did one in December 13 and one last December so I expect they may do one next month. Most sales of German bikes are in late August, just after Interbike. Last year, I visited a few German bike stores and found oodles of ex-demo bargains just before Christmas.

Quarter of All E-Bike Batteries Faulty

I can believe that 25% of bikes need a new battery after 3 years but I am surpised by the 10% in year one. I would have thought that something like 2% in year one, 8% in year two and 15% in year three would be more believable.

Quarter of All E-Bike Batteries Faulty

That would suggest a very substantial warranty claims, 40% * 25% = 10% of bikes sold. That's just not borned out by what I know.

those smartas are a bit big for your height. They come with 36V 9AH battery as standard, the 15AH battery option costs £200 extra. The motor is same class as the Petite's.

Even the Petite can do 500 yards of 15% gradient with a bit of pedalling.

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

One of the first things most people do is to lift the bike.

The Petite has 8-Fun SWXH motor on rear 24" wheel. It's about 25% less powerful than the 8-Fun BPM on 26". Because the motor on the Petite is mounted on 10% smaller wheel, the torque on the Petite is only 15% less than that of the BPM on the BB. Climbing the same hills, the Petite is about 10% -...

Hatti @ Woosh is 5ft2. She rides the Petite which she got made to suit her exactly. The Petite can have either 10AH battery or a very lightweight 15AH battery, 1.2kg lighter than the Big Bear 15AH battery.

Folding or regular, prebuilt or converted...advice appreicated !!

I rode the new Karoo and like it very much. That's why I am thinking it's time to treat myself to a lightweight bike so when I saw yamdude's post about the Giant Defy 5, I bought one the same day.

I've looked at the Keyde kit, too much custom parts for my liking. The D5 is still brand new, only done one little ride on it. The conversion can wait until after Christmas, I still have my Specialized with BBS01.

I weighed just now my Defy 5, 10.1kgs without mudguards. I am still looking around myself for a lightweight solution. About the woosh folders, the Zephyr-B folds but is much more full sized bike than a folding. The Zephyr-CDN is out of stock and being redesigned at the moment. The Gallego is...

Folding or regular, prebuilt or converted...advice appreicated !!

The defy 5 weighs about 11-12kgs. A conversion kit will add about 6kgs-7kgs unless you opt for low power assist. There are a few difficulties converting the Defy 5 with standard kits: the gear shifters are integrated inside the brake levers (you will need hidden brake cable sensors) and also the...

Replacement Smart eBike batteries by BionX,

they were eddieo and indalo. The trade member was Storck Raddar. The bike they criticized was the Storck Raddar Multitask. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/storck-raddar-multitask-some-observations.13598/

    Have I missed anything?

the Diamond Pro has the smaller 8-Fun motor and smaller capacity battery compared to the Big Bear LS. Other than that, it's a good bike.

I wouldn't worry much about the throttle situation. You may have to put up with no throttle for a couple of months until the manufacturers get their bikes legally type approved.
