    Brexit, for once some facts.

I disagreed for three reasons. Regenerative braking is far smoother and more gently progressive than manual braking. Acceleration through an EV's single gear is constantly progressive so far smoother than the multiple power on/off applications via 5 gears manual or up to 8 gears automatic...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I'm sure it's not typical of elsewhere in England. London's NHS was broken many years ago and remains so. The biggest problem is a permanent shortage of staff at all medical levels, simply because nobody wants to work in London, thanks to the difficult conditions, high cost of living and...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It seems a bit patchy. A couple of same age friends were contacted by letter to book the booster over two weeks before the six months was up, but my first booster contact letter was 12 days after my six months. Today I also got a 'flu jab invitation letter a further 3 days on. .

I learnt in here about the 15 minute wait, and indeed two friends who had their jabs earlier than me both suffered it each time. But although I used the same health centre there were no waits after the jabs. Indeed the way it was reorganised for the second jab it was needle out so close to the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Effort isn't the issue, I spent the morning making the effort. The issue is as I posted previously, one of risk, and this was illustrated in part by my very poor experience when getting my first jab. The second jab was a different poor experience, waiting in a queue outdoors for three...

Walk-in Vaccine Centres - - - - - The Reality On Saturday afternoon I posted that I now had the following Walk-in vaccination centres added online by the NHS: Nearby pharmacy on my estate: Booster only. Pharmacy on adjacent estate (3 miles): both Booster and 'Flu at same time. I looked...

How much cash do I need to outlay to gain an extra 2 mph ?

Your display is a Kingmeter acording to Purebike. As Cyclebuddy pointed out, it may be restricting the controller and have a mode allowing a bit more speed, I'm not familiar with the Kingmeter so you need someone who knows what it might allow. .

    ERider moped Help

It is the weight. It's a 250 watt rated moped with a relatively small battery, so over 20 stones of you and shopping is very big ask, especially on any hill. Full blown electric mopeds commonly have 4000 watt or more motors and far bigger batteries. Your best bet is to charge every time...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Agreed again, I'm strongly in favour of nuclear generation of energy, the French got that exactly right. But we need to steal everyone's best ideas. Germany's huge scale of solar pv enabling whole villages to go off grid. Denmark's clean burn waste-to-power stations but with carbon capture...

How much cash do I need to outlay to gain an extra 2 mph ?

Not quite as difficult as I thought then. You need to get access to the controller wherever that is, probably next to the battery, to check the voltage ratings of its electrolytic capacitors. They need headroom over the 48 volts, a 50 volt rating too low, 63 volt ok. .

How much cash do I need to outlay to gain an extra 2 mph ?

The only practical way on a hub motor bike is to up the voltage which increases the assist speed pro rata, In your case changing the 36 volt battery for a 48 volt one would increase the assist speed to up to 20 mph. But of course you have the wrong bike for that since it has a frame integrated...

Agreed, especially if we use heat pumps in our buildings as well as our EVs. But one of the biggest menaces to the environment has been the creation of the World Wide Web. In not much over 20 years it's created rampant world wide consumerism, fleets of immense container vessels, courier...

I share that hate, albeit for different reasons. I see the services, especially the one at the Cenotaph, as being both celebrations of war and condonement of killing so many for spurious reasons. Excuses enabling them to go to war again. .

Plainclothes PC cyclist snares drivers who come too close

I'd like to think this is true, but experience makes me more cynical. The same has been said about fuel prices cutting car travel many times in the past, yet it seems people would rather cut anything else before the use of their beloved car. The somewhat depressing news from COP26 is probably...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That's how bad it was here. You may recall me only about a week ago complaining that to get the booster and 'flu jab meant two separate long public transport trips in circumstances greatly increasing my risks over my normal virtually risk free life. So I said no to them until the access to...

Cheer up, England 5-0 against Albania at half time! and still 5 - 0 at full time. A hat trick for Harry Kane and goal for Harry Maguire, belatedly getting our own back on the continentals for killing Harold in 1066. ;) .
