    Fire at ebike showroom

It all boils down to charging as looks likely as indicated in the story. Simly leaving bikes on charge way past there charge duration is a no no and those who do it at night when gone to bed is a short cut to the undertakers.

    Control box

Are you sure 3113ka is correct, one suspects it is 3613ka. 36= voltage & the 15 /13 is the max current. 3113ka would be strange as there isn't a 31v system. There is no issue using a 15a in place of a 13a controller, the one Matt has shown is on ebay for £199. Some may say a rip off which may...

Very nicely done that, a 3D printer is involved.

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

The faster a cyclist rides on the road then the harder it is for drivers to overtake and then they start taking risks (we all know the driving mentality and it is simple 'must get in front, don't want to be held up'). In most cases it is far easier for vehicles to pass more safely for the...

    20" rear wheel build question

There are some sram shifters that use 2:1 actuation for compatibilty with shimano shifting bur generally most stick with one brand or the other.

    20" rear wheel build question

No reason those hubs can't be used. Spokes , one has to use a spoke calc. The spoke calc does all the work once the info is input, one needs to know rim erd and the hub spoke hole flange dia etc etc. Sram and shimano 8 spd cassettes use the same spline specs so one fits the other, x8 mech will...

front hub, mid drive or rearhub motor choice

For me it is lightweight front hub all day long for anything bar extreme off road, no worries about lack of weight over the wheel and my one gamefully pulls very well with a loaded trailer in tow. The highly geared lightweight hub rides quite nicely unpowered. One can't dispell them without...

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

Afaiac any throttle should be banned, if one can't ride a pedelec /eapc without leg power then one shouldn't ride one. A low powered bicycle is just that it can help on hills but should be no more. I am seeing a lot more illegal bikes then before and none are peddaling, one a week ago on the...

Carrera crossfire controller and display upgrade

Two or three have converted hesc /suntour carrera bikes with Kt stuff and the swap over is pretty much std, one has to keep the motor connector cable up to the controller and solder /migrate the wiring to the KT controller wiring like for like as the connector at the motor end is not the same as...

Carrera crossfire controller and display upgrade

You may not like how the power is delievered, it is a speed controller which means the current supplied is pretty constantly max until one reaches the cut out speed in each PAS level. Tbh if one wants to ride up to the legal cut off, then one will likely only ever use top PAS level. Which ever...

2 pin vs 5 pin battery connectors

A two pin battery connection means the system is dumb generic one with no other comm's involved, a generic battery that has 4 or 5 pins still only uses two pins the others unused or a pair may be used and wired in parallel for on bike charging should the battery charge point be in an awkward place.

Are there any good inexpensive truing stands?

I made my own out of timber in the form of the metal type in pic one. A easier option is to use the bikes drops outs with the bike in situ by using a simple cable tie as the rim truer.

    Yose battery mileage

For your use of PAS levels and the hilly nature of the terrain 30 miles from 560wh is pretty good, it is the higher PAS level use on hills that is sucking away the range. Your battery cells will be china cells whethe rthey are good china branded ones , whos knows. These cells will likley be...

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

Upping the power/speed to S pedelec type bikes will lose you the right to use most of the quite offroad tracks and bridle ways that can be used.

DVSA take companies to Court for selling illegal bikes.

The forum has a speed pedelec's sub forum, all non pedelec related talk should be encompassed within this sub forum. I tossed up whether to post this on this sub forum or the S ped one, but decided on this one as the sellers are tryig to disguise/mis sell as a general ebike and as such the...

Scott Sub Sport eRIDE vs Cube Kathmandu Hybrid vs Bergamont E-Horizon Sport vs Focus Aventura 2 6.6 vs Haibike Trekking 9

Things like forks in the main are basic once upon a time Rockshocks were the in vogue spec'd fork to fit but today most tend to use a Suntour 63mm travel fork and all the Suntours are much the same. If one really needs a bouncy fork then air shocks are what are needed. Brake wise hydraulic is...
