    Lithium-ion battery dangers

It bored me a long time ago which is why I tried to knock it on the head several posts back. Dog with a bone comes to mind.

    Lithium-ion battery dangers

If you think telling someone that they are writing nonsense is rude you must have led a very sheltered life.

    Lithium-ion battery dangers

Flecc you started with an unsubstantiated completely wrong assertion about the Comet - went on to Windscale, which you wrote as Windrush and then on to Concorde. Where next? The errors in the design of the Titanic? I expect a little online research would turn up some easily regurgitated stuff if...

    Lithium-ion battery dangers

Stated fact about the Comet engines by whom? Some disaffected pilot with an axe to grind who wrote a book perhaps? Whose truth about Concorde? I've seen pictures of fifties prototypes of a supersonic airliner which looked just like what became Concorde with an e. Long before the French...

    Lithium-ion battery dangers

I really don't know where you get this idea of pride dictating the design. As I recall the engines used were an interim measure since the Avon engines that were meant to go in it were not ready. They were fitted to the Mk 2 Comet a couple of years later. The alloys were thinner than usual and...

Need an e bike for commuting in London

I had a look at one in a shop. Didn't ride it though. It looked well finished. But with two speeds and a fairly low powered T/S controlled motor not much use to me where I live. It looks nice but with no mudguards or lights which are essential for commuting. Hydraulic brakes are a must with a...

    Lithium-ion battery dangers

Well they tested the structure to destruction before they discovered that it was metal fatigue, and the worldwide aero industry learned from it. The main lesson being to round off all edges to avoid small fatigue cracks from forming. Maintenance checks still involve checking carefully for...

    Lithium-ion battery dangers

Don't want to be pedantic Flecc but I don't think weight saving was the issue with the Comet. It was a lack of understanding in the aircraft industry worldwide about metal fatigue in alloy. The Comet's windows were large and rectangular, and the cycles of cabin pressurisation and...

Need an e bike for commuting in London

Best to ride a couple. If you're going to 50 Cycles check out the Pro Connect 9 at a special offer price of £1600. The German bikes have build and finish, and ride quality which the Chinese ones don't. All in my opinion of course. The Kalkhoff and some other German bikes use the ten percent...

Cheap Breakdown Recovery for Pedelecs and Pushbikes.

I did earlier today too. Not sure how good the coverage is but as the only driver in the house a taxi estate would be the only other way to get it home.

New Kalkhoff Pro Connect 9 owner

It's got a fairly small battery capacity at 11ah so 34 miles at max assist if it was really hilly is good. That's 11 wh/per mile. I get 48 miles out of my 17ah Impulse 1 when I'm trying to flatten it for conditioning. That's on very hilly terrain. So almost 13 wh/ per mile.

Kalkhoff Pro Connect Impulse 10 2015 Review

It is pretty powerful but it's a torque sensor so you do need to put something in to get the power. So depending on just how out of shape you are it might or might not be suitable. You'll get into shape with a TS bike though. Best to try one and a couple of others too. Crossed with the above...

    Hidden features on Bosch Nyon

Each to his own but this is the sort of thing I go on a ride to clear my head from. Will we be seeing riders going along peering down at their smart displays like the prats you have to walk around in towns oblivious to their surroundings - head down glued to their phones?

    Kalkhoff speed sensor problems

You just need to slacken off the wheel nuts and turn both the adjusters clockwise an eighth of a turn at a time to move the axle backwards evenly until the chain is at the right tension. 1 to 1.5 cm vertical movement in the middle of the bottom run at the chain's tightest position on the...

Show me a stylish alternative to the BH NEO Race.

Depends on how good the roads are where you ride. I wouldn't want to be without it around these parts now. The minor roads are bloody awful and getting worse, and as to the lanes where I live... I've seen better bridleways than some.

Did the lovely Vanessa tell you how good the coverage is or who they use?

    Dropbar Road Bike Conversions

I've always preferred the riding position of drop bars. But I did the vast majority of my riding with my hands on the top of the brake/gear levers. You have so many grip options with them and can change hand positions far more easily on a long ride or hills. It always seemed easier on the wrists...
