Riding an electric cargo bike legally in the UK

So all the bikes sold by reputable sellers like Kudos and Woosh with the King Meter display are selling illegal bikes even when factory set to 25 kph? In practice I very much doubt that Officer Dibble would have much of a clue about getting into the settings. Although he might be riding an e...

How to choose new chainset for KTM MTB?

Mine doesn't. It shows it's got about half its life left.

    Cyclotricity Sahara or Revolver?

You could look at Woosh. They have some bikes with better specs than this at about the same price. BTW ignore the stated range with all e bikes. That goes double in hilly areas.

Riding an electric cargo bike legally in the UK

Just make sure you have your duck call with you. Or better still your rattle to spin around furiously as you close up on pedestrians. Not sure which hand you’d use though....

    Fitting mirror to throttle-end.

Not sure exactly what you mean but the throttle should not obstruct the bar end. If you cut out the centre of the grip at the end you should be able to fit one okay I would think. Motorcycles can have them fitted with their much bigger throttles.

    Opinions Please.....?

No I don’r suppose there is any realistic problem with using a derestricted bike like that. Unless you were unlucky enough to be involved in something major, and they really had a good look. I used to use my Chinese bike with the cut off set to 30 kph because it was so unpleasant cutting out at...

    Opinions Please.....?

There are some dealers who sell fast S pedelecs which are legal in Germany and Holland but not here for use on the road. They are sold in a misleading way, sometimes to people who don’t realise they are not, and cannot be made legal. But selling them or selling the bike you mention is not...

    What ever happened to...

The cassette will probably sound better. I have some recordings on cassette taken thirty years ago from my then deck which still bounce and syncopate and sound better than the digital versions.

    Opinions Please.....?

There is such general misunderstanding about these sort of bikes, and that’s why terms like ‘off road use’ are so misleading. They can only be legally used on private land where the rider has the permission of the landowner, and where there is no public right of way or access. I suspect that...

    Haibike v Kalkhoff v Heinzmann?

No interest in deregulating my bike but I would have thought a dongle would invalidate the warranty too. If they can see that one has been fitted when they scan the software. As Bosch is able to do apparently with its motors.

    Kalkhoff Impulse - stretched chain

They do wear more than a normal bike with the extra power going through them. I assume it’s hub gears and the axle is not pulling forward in the dropouts? That is an issue with the hub gear bikes which has been addressed with the belt drive new ones. I’ve got a chain pull on mine which stops the...

    Derestricting Bosch Gen 2

I think according to Col the KTM importer it does. Look up his posts of a month or so ago backwards and I’m pretty sure you’ll find that he wrote that. If you can find it among all the arguments from different members about illegal derestricting on the various threads.

    Halfords electric bike

Bikes with crossbars were alway lighter and stiffer than step throughs. I think they still are but less so with modern manufacturing. It’s the saddle which you have to clear though when you swing your leg over not the crossbar. You should be able to stand astride the crossbar with a couple of...

I know this is not strictly an ebike thread but..

Some dealers selling S pedelecs do the same, and some buyers have been unaware that they are illegal here.

    UKIP Manifesto

A high percentage of so called British foreign aid is used as a disguised export incentive. It has to be used to buy goods from British companies and is in effect tied. That’s the main reason why successive British governments have supported it, and why the Tories - not known for caring too much...

    UKIP Manifesto

The difference between Labour and Conservatives on budget deficit reduction is that the Tories want a surplus by 2020 and Labour wants to reduce it but not eliminate it by then, while putting up some taxes for the better off. That means that it’s possible for Labour to make much smaller cuts...

    UKIP Manifesto

Arguably the balance of payments with the rest of the world and the current account deficit part is far more worrying than outright debt or the budget deficit which gets so much attention now. In 1970 when Labour lost the election they expected to win Wilson blamed the delivery of a couple of...

    UKIP Manifesto

After identifying the problem the next job of politics is to identify the solution. That’s when the real politics begin, because the elites don’t even recognise that there is a problem of course.
