    The dongle re-visited

If the dongle is not a contributing factor then it has zero consequence. the legal point is similar to that of an accident involving an uninsured car and an insured car. The driver of the uninsured car will get 6 points and £200 fine, but this action is separate from the main action, the...

    The dongle re-visited

total nonsense. So if I run over a guy on e-bike doing 8mph on a hill, shall I look to see if he's got a dongle on his bike? or his reflectors have appropriate BS markings? we need to look at contributing factors in such cases, any lawyer will know that or have you forgotten the test of...

New Woosh Sport CD battery issue?

that's why I thought it was caused by a dodgy battery because the route is easy, and the power consumption to the point of failure is approximately 40% of the capacity. Have you managed to restart the bike after the incident or after recharging the battery though? If the bike restarts after the...

New Woosh Sport CD battery issue?

that's correct, if you measure the voltage at the two terminals of the battery, you should see 41V after charging is finished. I am curious though. D8veh has pointed out that if the LCD was still on after the bike stopped, then it could not be the battery. After the bike stopped, did you manage...

    The dongle re-visited

not quite. It's one thing to ride a non compliant bike, it's another thing to break the law. So you get pulled in by the police not travelling in excess of 15.5mph under assistance. How are they going to know that: a) you've got a dongle? b) the function of the dongle? c) which law did you break?

New Woosh Sport CD battery issue?

I think you have a dodgy battery John. They have 2 mechanics who only do PDIs but there is not much chance for a PDI to find out if the battery has a dodgy cell. Give them a call.

    Help, I'm Canadian!

the Copenhagen wheel is a nice idea but totally unpractical, for the same amount of money, you can get an 8-Fun BPM CST kit and a decent battery.

    The dongle re-visited

I believe that 1 (you can't travel with assistance at over 15.5 mph without insurance and helmet) is correct. If you were hit by another vehicle while riding at 15mph, the fitting of the dongle is not of any material importance because you are not using it.

    The dongle re-visited

in which way that removing the speed limit with a dongle makes the bike illegal? The bike has EN15194. if the bike is re-tested with the dongle in place, it will fail but fooling the speed limiter is something not yet defined in law, so could not be illegal. It's a bit like buying 'legal highs'...

New Woosh Sport CD battery issue?

that's quite correct, the modern Lithium batteries do not need to be run in but when there is an odd event, it does not hurt to check that: a) the capacity is still 100%. This is easy if you have a Watt meter fitted to your bike. Without it, you can use the 2A * charging time as a guide to how...

    Help, I'm Canadian!

welcome to the forum, Mo. I have a crank drive from 8-Fun, I believe you can get it quite easily in Canada. The BBS01 from 8-Fun is very easy to install, from that point of view, excellent choice is you want to convert your own bike. It's also very good on hills. If you buy a ready made bike...

    Bristol Bike Day - 22nd June 2014

Bristol is mainly for dealers showing off big brands - Woosh don't sell other brands so I don't think they are invited. All pedelecers are of course encouraged to come and join in. By the way, the Big Bear and Big Bear LS (Bear in low step frame) are their top bikes now

New Woosh Sport CD battery issue?

the battery has internal thermistor that could be triggered or one of the cells may need 'running in' that may explain this odd incident. All brand new batteries could do with 'running in' . This is because they are stored many months between manufacture and first use. When they are made, 50%...

    To Kit Or To Woosh?

may be but give it a chance to see how you get one tomorrow. The battery's capacity is not far from sufficient for your 25 miles a day target. I am sure you'll find a way to stretch it.

New Woosh Sport CD battery issue?

the charger pumps out 2A, so 4 hours is roughly 8AH, 90% of the capacity of your bottle battery - practically the range you can do with this bike. For 10 miles, depending how hilly it was, expect 2 hours + First, a quick observation about power consumption. CD bikes can use a lot of battery...

he need 14mph+ on average to beat the car. Reducing to 12mph to make the battery last won't beat the car. May have to buy a second battery after all.
