    Brexit, for once some facts.

oF course I am being speculative, What precedents are there for the Speaker usurping the PM?. If he were to challenge it, how long would that take?. Who is going to sign on new extension? And When?. Then who is going to move the vote in the HoC on accepting the extension.? A lot of moving...

Ok. The EU are nothing if not polite. They would not a acceeded to a request or offered an extension without being asked. It would logically be seen as bullying. They would of course had anticipated this and had their position organised. The Scottish case is still pending, having been reopened...

I am still on this because it still has relevance. The EU has said they are in principle prepared to offer an extension. But who accepts the extension on behalf of the UK?. Post #65513 is relevant. The UK EU ambassador signs under the instruction of the PM.. presumably. It is an executive...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Interesting that you never responded to my earlier post about sacrificing new borns... Seriously a 110 page Act needs scrutiny. Its not the EUs offer which is in difficulty, it is the bits included or omitted in the UKs Act which need scrutiny. Now the HoC accepted in PRINCIPLE the WAB, so why...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It is germane to the argument. Now the EU has said it will offer an extension, that bit is off the agenda. I expect the EU are waiting for the Scottish Court before proceeding. Now the sequence has to be . 1. The UK asks for extension.. CHECK 2. The EU considers the request ...CHECK 3. The UK...

Zlatan, you are being unfair on JC.. he has stated again and again that he wants a GE . He has also stated the condition under which he will agree. That is actually decisive. Now As I stated, I would like the EU to make a referendum the condition for an extension. They still might. Todays...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I have been following this discussion with limited interest. But just three comments. 1 Blair is less reviled in Ireland than in a England..he was a signature on the GFA. Although Major's role should not be ignored. 2 There is an element of Victim Blaming in Zlalans contribution. Corybn was...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Perhaps, I am being over sensitive, but on BBC News this minute is a report of a horrific event, where 39 people were found dead in a lorry in Essex a few hours ago. The initial assumption, without evidence, was that it came from Holyhead and hence Ireland was responsible. The speaker ,a...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Well everyone in Ireland knew about the NI Border..and whats more our public representatives , ambassadors etc, made sure that senior British politicans knew also. The Article 50 process SHOULD have been well familiar with the expert civil servants in the UK Government. But then who needs...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Eh no. It is not the EU deal the MPs are voting on it is the WAB ..which is UK legislation, and was only released two days ago, which contains in its 110 pages , amongst other items the EU deal. Remember there are some 600 pages in that EU deal. Although in fairness the EU released 520 pages...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That is a very fair point, but you might allow that I have a slightly better feel for the pulse of NI. What may have escaped your attention is that. 1. There was a solid antii Brexit referendum result 2. The GE Elections tended to support anti Brexit sentiment... This is coloured to an extent...

There are more important things than money. Long term relationships for example.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The point of course is not the EUs deal, but the Interpretation of that deal as written into a WAB before the HoC. As I tried to explain to Fingers, every clause of that 110 page needs to be checked. My example of say confirming that it does not contain a statement about sacrifice of the first...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Wow, that is really convoluted My view is that the EU should offer an extension only on the condition that you run a referendum. Then the will of the people would be tested.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Sorry Woosh, but NI is not the DUP. The DUP does not speak for NI. The DUP speak for the DUP. The majority in NI find this deal marginally more palatable than no deal, and a lot less palatable than no Brexit.

The fact that the Bill got a first reading and vote , gives some confidence to the EU. But I expect a delay in them making a public statement
