Hi Pete, if you are looking for a more affordable option with a Bafang rear motor, the FreeGo Folder may well be worth putting on your list. It's a good reliable bike for under £1,000 with the benefit of local servicing and first class support. This month FreeGo are offering a £100.00 cash...

    Another broken ebike

Hi Andy, that sounds terrible. Apart from the Cyclotricity, what other bikes have you bought? Were they new? It's unusual for anyone to get such a run of bad luck. All the best, David

I understand where you are coming from Trex, nothing more than I would expect that from a Woosh salesman, I hope you understand where I am coming from too. I can assure you that we pay considerably more for our motors than you have indicated. As to whether 8fun or AKM make better motors, the...

Hi Gerald the OP says "Still looking at secret, wisper, and others but would like bigger battery," in his opening post, hence my response. If he hadn't mentioned Wisper by name I probably would not have offered my advice. All the best, David

OK, now I understand!!! :D :) As I say, try the bikes and you will see. All the best, David

Interesting, I had more problems with Bafang motors than any other brand. As you say time will tell. All the best, David

Thanks Dave. Hi Trex, I think we should agree to differ. In a spirit of fairness, FYI we have never had one of these superb motors overheat and have never had one wear out. We have had a few issues (under 1%) with hall timing (due to our input asking for something a little different to their...

Great idea, D8veh has recently tested our motor. Bafang motors are a great staple but if you want to do anything different they are not so accommodating. I've used four manufacturers including Bafang and Dapu in my 12 years in the business and in my opinion AKM are the best we have dealt with...

It's a complicated market with so many models of battery cells, motors and indeed all parts available. I would be happy talk to Trex privately on the matter, as you say, it should not be discussed here, it simply confuses the matter. Suffice to say I had a meeting with the owner of AKM and his...

Yes absolutely. The motor we use costs more than any 8Fun motor*, we looked at 8Fun and could not find one to out perform the top end AKM motors. We have used 8Fun in the past and would not go back. Not sure about the 375Wh battery, if you let me know what you pay by PM I will let you know...

Hi, if you are referring to the Torque bike, there is quite a lot of difference in all the parts used. The Woosh bike his great value but all the parts are less expensive then on the Wisper. Its always tricky but to give you some idea, the black SE bike is £500 less than the grey Torque bike...

Unfortunately I weigh in again at nearly 130kg and they work well for me! The frame carries a 10 year warranty.

Either of the Wispers would be good, the Torque version would give you huge climbing power. Both offer disc brakes for safe stopping down those steep hills! All the best, David

    Riese & Muller Delite 2

You are correct, there wasn't a Gates sprocket available on the Rohloff hub, that may have changed.

    Oxygen E-Mate rear spoke issues.

I am very pleased for you!

Shimano 3 speed Itegno rear hub.

Riese & Muller use a Sram 3 speed with a 9 speed cassette on a few of their bikes. it's a far neater way to achieve 27 gears than using a three speed front mech. It works very well. All the best, David

    Oxygen E-Mate rear spoke issues.

Putting thicker spokes into a motor wheel can actually cause more problems, choosing the correct quality in the first place is an essential part of the bike design. We run higher torque motors than both the brands you mention and don't get any breakages. All the best, David

    Best bike for least peddling

The best bet is to buy a bike that has a throttle, torque sensor and cadence sensor! :)
  19. Wisper Bikes

    Hello from Wiltshire

If you do buy a bike with a torque sensor it's important to make sure it has a speed/cadence sensor as we'll get the best out of the bike. All the best, David

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

A rack battery can help on slippery paths, putting more weight over the rear wheel adds to rear wheel traction. All the best, David
