Sorry Guys, this new format is not working for Kudos

I know this is old history but this comment seems a little Clarkson-esque. At the very least, it cannot be substantiated. Personally, I do not like Clarkson's attitude and presentation style although I do watch his program regularly, so I am a little accustomed to this sort of sting. Depending...

Sorry Guys, this new format is not working for Kudos

Chinese e-bike frames are much stronger than european designed frames to the point of being chunky looking. The problem with EN15194 Chinese e-bikes are: 1. they insist on fitting brake cutout whereas Bosch don't. That causes their bikes to be more vulnerable to water problems and few have...

Which of these two kits to purchase?

if you have to buy from more than one supplier, there is little saving building it yourself and you could save yourself a lot of time and uncertainty by buying a ready built bike. Keep in mind that bikes with high mileage won't fetch much on ebay, I would recommend that you buy a cheapo Chinese...

Which of these two kits to purchase?

both kits use hub motors, not my choice for fast commuting because you are restricted to the motor maximum RPM. The standard SWXK are wound for 201 RPM, 15mph on a 26" wheel. You can already pedal faster than that. The other kits, 48V 1000RC seems to be a direct drive unit, plus a 48V is too...

    IS YOUR BATTERY RELIABLE ?

transportation regualtions by rail / sea / roads of Lithium batteries are well defined. You have already got UN83.3 certificate and product liability insurance from the (Chinese) battery factory. These cover the cells, BMS, casing and cartons. You have to sea freight them in. The factory uses...

    IS YOUR BATTERY RELIABLE ?

that sounds about right. Your recelled battery can be described legally as 'made' in the UK because your added value is 17% or more against the selling price of the product. Have you got a brand name in mind? how about 'el Champiero batteries'?

Latest progress on cell upgrade for Bosch battery.

it could be that they did not copy Bosch but made a plug compatible as they said. The Bosch battery may have a data logger running on one of those smaller wires. Without tracing the yellow/green/purple wires, we just don't know. It may be worth the effort to check which pins on the charger have...

    IS YOUR BATTERY RELIABLE ?

or ask the suppliers for the make and model of the cells. I am for freedom of information. Good suppliers have nothing to hide. PS: PICC is the insurance company that provides product liability insurance for your batteries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping_An_Insurance Many Chinese battery...

Latest progress on cell upgrade for Bosch battery.

I've got a junk mail the other day from a Shenzen company that make 'plug compatible' Bosch and Panasonic batteries - deleted the junk mail by mistake so can't remember which one it was. I think they quoted about $200 for the 300WH Bosch compatible battery with Samsung cells. I am not sure about...

    Dual Speed Motor

yes. $198 one off ex works. I can buy a BPM kit for about the same money, without being restricted to the 15A controller. If they make the controller go up to 25A, I'd buy one.

    IS YOUR BATTERY RELIABLE ?

Most quality batteries are made with Samsung ICR18650-26F. We pay for the number of cells * price per cell ($3.5 each for the ICR18650-26F) + $60 for the rest of the electronics and charger. Don't be fooled by salesman spiel that somehow Chinese made batteries with Samsung cells work less well...

    Dual Speed Motor

you could be right. I've been looking for the patent by curiousity to find out how they did it. The kit has Kun Teng LCD but not a magnet like the King Meter. Cost: $200 (26" wheel laced to motor, controller, cables, brake handles and PAS sensor) + courier if you want to find out.

    Bike kits

they don't even have to get their bikes tested, only need to declare that their bikes meet the standard. A bit like the WEEE directives in the 90s

    Dual Speed Motor

it's a double edged sword. You have one and a half planetary gearbox - so one and a half chance of something will jam or break.

    Kit fitting

Pea, the Sport TS and CD have the same frame, saddle height from the ground can be adjusted to suit 5ft 3 to 6ft but optimally for 5ft 5. These two bikes are about the same size as your Myka. You use the Myka seat post and saddle on either to keep to your normal ride setting. The sprung seat...

    New tyres....twisted !

I would ask for a refund. Tyres are not meant to be sent like that to save on courier cost.

    Dual Speed Motor

the system is very effective to electrify fixies, the gear change is automatic or manual with a small 3 position switch (Low/High/Auto) but I can't see it adopted beyond those. The kit costs just as much as an 8-Fun BPM kit. The XD motor is available for front wheel and rear wheel.

I went to see around 10 electric bike shops in France and Germany. They all speak better English than some of my neighbours
