Steep Learning Curve in the Peak District.....

Nuvinci is a bad idea. The new model has a freewheel, so the rear wheel spins like on a normal bike but the transmission loss is still around 18%. If you ride unpowered, it's hard work.

I would never exceed 15mph on cycle lanes if there is oncoming traffic but I feel safer riding 15-25mph on the roads and the 15mph cut out is just not pleasant. So what can I do? Also, what if the speed magnet got loosened and I am not aware of it?

incidentally, if one uses a small RC ICE to charge up the battery while riding, would the bike still be considered as EPAC despite of the noise and fume? This is because a litre of petrol is equivalent to 9.7kWh - enough to ride for 500+ miles and the kit is no heavier than current lithium battery.

interesting point of view. shemozzle, is it not a personal choice to turn off the speed magnet or plug in a dongle or pressing the boost button? You seem to put the blame on the manufacturers for not making derestriction impossible and leave the customers un-criticised.

shemozzle, have you considered the difference between the boost button (increase power) and the Bosch dongle (soft cutout)? The dongle makes the ride more pleasant and suits cyclists better I think.
