Different Bike Different Battery Different Motor

I am sorry for the post above. Please forget that I said it. If the manufacturer says it's 250W then it's as they said.

    Crank drive advantages

Ebike controllers already acts as a CVT. d8veh can explain way better than I can.

    Crank drive advantages

Electric locomotives don't have a mechanical gearbox. The controller acts as a CVT including reversing.

to the dealers.....was it worth it for you....(redbridge)

Much has been said about the high performance bikes (GoCycle, Haibike, BH Neo, eZee Sprint, Kudos Ariba) - does anyone have anything to say about the cheaper end bikes that were at the show?

    Sychophantic nonsense

RIP Maggie. The tory party you've so much influenced has luckily moved on from those short-sighted policies of yours and your sycophants. Norman Tebbit is one that jumped to my mind.

to the dealers.....was it worth it for you....(redbridge)

I wonder how much of the technology seen in the GoCycle G2R is going to be taken up by other manufacturers.

geostorm, I suppose many testers will agree with you that there weren't much to impress them in comparision with what they have already. Part of the reason, the test track is not very challenging nor very long to show up the difference. The 'hill' is about 100m long with the steepest section...

to the dealers.....was it worth it for you....(redbridge)

The 'hill' at Redbridge was about 100m long, the steep (10%) section was about 50m long, not remotely like any real hill. Talking about burst bubble is prematured, crank drives will always be more efficient on hills, hub drives will always easier to handle because you don't have to worry about...

Gear options for a crank bike - what's the mose versatile or robust.

Only the lowest and highest ratios that matter. My favourite is Deore 10 speed cassette with 11T-36T on 700C wheels.

Getting fit again on a Cyclotricity Stealth

I can't comment on what people write. When the charger senses the voltage getting to 42V, the charging light will go 'full' , usually green. According to battery uviversity, your battery will live longer if you switch the charger off after the charging light goes green. As to conditioning, I...

    Thank you Kudos 4 Redbridge!

Well, you may see it that way but it's legal and selling well in the EU. d8veh was very impressed by it at Redbridge. Most bikes at Redbridge have much more potent motors than the 250W 8-Fun SWX. Even that one usually runs at over 400W on hills.

shemozzle999, The GoCycle G2Rs have an 11AH 22V battery, German motor, in-house controller, assembled by Flextronics in Hungary and are capable of climbing hills at 15mph in pedelec (legal) mode, and 20mph by pressing the Empower button. You can download a nice brochure from Ghistelinck...

Getting fit again on a Cyclotricity Stealth

Hi annie, I am sure Hatti can speak for herself but I think it's worth adding a couple of points. Modern Lithium batteries do not need conditioning. You should read this article about how to prolong the life of your battery: How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries - Battery University Lithium...

    Thank you Kudos 4 Redbridge!

The totally legal GoCyle has an even more potent motor, 40A controller and programmable power curve. Powerful motors and controllers are not illegal but they must be restricted to 15mph to be legal. d8veh bike is totally legal because he programmed it to cutoff assistance at 15mph. Both of them...

I agree if they could sell it for £1500, it'll be a big hit. Some of their ideas are quite good - I like the hidden toolbox under the saddle and of course, the electronic gear shift. But many other ideas are hideously complicated. Look at this video and imagine you do this in London underground...

The GoCycle looks like something that you'd get if you put both Sir Clive Sinclair and James Dyson in the same team.

    New convert

Ditto. But.. Conversion offers fewer choices than ready made bikes, you have practically to start with a hub motors. All of them tend to overheat and lose their torque after a few minutes on hills unless you fit a big and heavy unit.

What do controller and motor ratings actually mean

d8veh is right. Voltage is irrelevant. It's the change in magnetic flux that makes the motor turn. The change in current intensity causes change in the flux. If the current is static, the flux remains static, one or more of your FETs have died. The voltage would be either 36V or 0V but no...

    New convert

You're already used to quality bikes, go for a Bosch crank drive. Any of them can do 24 mile trips with ease. If you want a Chinese bike, The Kudos Ibex seems to have the best bike components.
