Little point, Aneurin was Bevan, Ernest was Bevin. Both ranking as very great and capable politicians. Sadly we don't have their like any more. .

An illustration of how stupid we are, the USA is nothing of the sort. It's more German, French, Dutch, Italian, Scandinavian, Irish, African and Hispanic than British. Being aligned with them is like being in the EU Plus and these days it's on course for the Hispanics to be the majority group...

Agreed, we lost both the war and the peace to them. The sooner we separate ourselves from them and make our own peace, the better. .

It's 2, 3 or 4 wheeled since the 6th April 2015 amendments to the EAPC regulations. All weight limits removed too. .

I didn't disagree with this, it was a good point. But we lost WW2 and had to be rescued from or stupidity and incompetence, just as we would have failed in WW1 without the rest of the world helping, remember the saying "Heroes led by donkeys". It's only when we British finally accept that we...

We did lose it, at Dunkirk. Fortunately the Americans and Russians took on the task and won it for us. We did a mini re-run of Dunkirk in Iraq at Basra where our army ran away from their angry civilians, hid in the desert and negotiated a retreat to back home. .

No I didn't at all, I had no hesitation in choosing "dislike" for that post. Such expressions as "Wogs begin at Calais" are almost a British tradition and sufficiently vague to be laughed at, but your post was too literal, detailed and spiteful to be taken as a joke. In your original...

Thanks. I really don't care what they call themselves, so long as it's not the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. .

Different situation with policy though, that's a matter of opinion rather than definitively right or wrong. I wouldn't be planning on caning anybody, though I might just make an exception with Boris Johnson. .

He lives in the right place to fix the leadership: Abraham Lincoln (1865), James A. Garfield (1881), William McKinley (1901), and John F. Kennedy (1963) .

It's a difficult situation, I saw it more as criticising Johnsons actions, Danidl read it as criticising Johnson. How does one criticise someone's actions without it being a criticism of them? Difficult at the best of times, and with someone widely known to be as mendacious and duplicitous...

And be a source of trouble for the rest of his life? We had enough of that thanks, with Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, never out of the news for many decades. Stuff convention, take the title away, swapping it for cash. Regardless of precedents, he cannot realistically be the Duke of Sussex...

Not so, I saw that article as excellent and wasn't in any way commenting on the rest of the Guardian's output. I would have commented identically if the article was in the Mail, the Telegraph or by some miracle in the Express. In attacking it being in the Guardian you are guilty of shooting...

I see that more as stupid than vengeful. The whole issue should have been handled in a businesslike manner with money at the core: You want to go, fine. If you leave you lose all connections to royalty and become a commoner. You get a generous and substantial annual stipend for life so long...

He disinherited himself of choice. Nothing wrong with that, I hate the institution of royalty myself, but he should accept the consequences. He's being dishonest, royalty is a package, accept all of it or none of it, he's trying to play a middle game and making a living out of it. The story...

Indeed, the silliest thing they could do now is respond. It's a pity that Harry and Meghan were allowed to keep any royal title, they should have just become Mr and Mrs Windsor and not able to do the extent of damage they are doing now. .

Excellent article. The only outcome I can see is yet more trouble and strife with the EU due to Boris continuing to pretend to do something but leaving a leaky border. A better solution is for the UK to swallow pride and rejoin the customs union. After all, the referendum was far from being...

Yes, Tony at Woosh is French and has said so on a few occasions, hence my "dislike" for your use of condolences. He is as you've said, and like huge numbers of French people including those in my own family's French branch, now far larger than the vestige of us here in the UK. .
